Your colour analysis is the only one that ever made sense to me. I found using different greens really helped me to identify my undertone (warm and delicate, olive).
I totally agree with you on "everyone has a yellow" being nonsense. Even though there are degrees of warmth and coolness, yellow will always be a warm colour.
One of the things that I find most direct and coherent about your color system is that you don't say that "everyone has a purple" or "everyone has a blue" or "there's a cool yellow for winters" -- if you've added enough yellow to make a blue "warm" then it's not blue anymore!
This makes so much sense for me. I am warm and delicate and very pale. I can wear magenta. People always want to 'warm me up` with bronzer, but it doesn't look good. Thanks for making the test uncomplicated.
I like the simplicity of your system. I’m warm-toned (Autumn early on then later Spring) and have puzzled as to why these palettes include so many blues and purples. Somehow seasonal analysts say they’re “warm” blues. How is that possible? They even put navy blue in Spring and Autumn palettes when that looks horrendous on me. The pretzel-twisting logic is exhausting, and you’ve made this simple, and I thank you for that.
I find your info really helpful - I realised I am a cool undertone and I have rosy skin, I suit the brighter cool palette. Strangely, the colours I've always been drawn to reflect this, but I've always steered to warm tones because I was told I have warm, olive skin. I changed my earrings to silver today and wore a brighter lilac dress and I never felt so clear and vibrant! Thank you so much Merriam <3
Interesting your comments on yellow. AFAIK, I'm probably Cool Soft & rarely wear yellow -- even more so now 62yo that I have naturally dark brunette hair with white streaks. However, when I was gradeschool age, my mom bought me bright yellow outfits & it looked good, especially in the summer when I had a tan. Everything in the 60s & 70s seems warmer-toned in general.
I agree with you about Rihanna. I saw a recent photo of her where her long hair was black and she wore a black dress and black sandals - the photo showed how the dress wasn't in harmony with her skintone.
I was sure of color analysis and thought with all the charts and information carefully researched through so many color analyist, but the more I see the small things that make everyone different I am not confined their is a true box to place someone. Red heads do not just fit in warm palettes perfectly for instance I seen a documentary with Nicole Kidman the perfect couple and look how beautiful she looks in a pastel blue dress!! The more I study it, the more confused I am!! I know that I have olive skin tone myself and it can really shake things up and a lot of colors actually make me look I’ll!! I look better and more alive in winter or cool clothes but gold jewelry looks best on me and it melts into my skin! I can wear fall colors and they look good on me and I think it is because I am a soft natural!
