I think it's really interesting that Teddy was right about her being an alien and that the andromedans were playing a huge role in the fate of humankind but he was completely wrong about which side they were on. Michelle was not trying to destroy us, she was trying to help us. It's like Teddy could see a secret color no one else can see but he's also colorblind so he doesn't see it correctly.

Emma Stone is a hell of an actress

Jessie Plemons should have been nominated for an Oscar for his performance!!! ⭐️🎬👌🏽💯

A moment that had me wondering if she was an alien was during the scene she comes to. I thought her reaction to her hair being shaved off was peculiar. An average women would freak out due to vanity, but also fear and disgust. However, she clearly was composed with a hint of sharpness. Like, "I wonder how you knew about my antenna!"

In the original film, Save the Green Planet, the ending can be interpreted as a predeath hallucination by the Teddy character. It hints he has been so let down by life that he secretly wants the world to end since happy moments of his life are shown in flashback over the end credits. So it means that the audience is held accountable: did you or did you not make the world worse? etc.. This one feels inferior.

My takeaway from the film was that even if somehow a helping hand descended from the heavens to solve all our problems, humans would still find a way to destroy ourselves.

Not only that, if our saviors embedded themselves in our lives, they would be come corrupt and exploitative individuals by osmosis.

It’s revealed she’s an alien when she asked how many he’s killed. She realizes he dissected them before and that should be more than enough proof for him and us.

This movie is so sad. Because in a way Stone's character is right about Teddy, he is deeply troubled, and traumatized, and well since he also killed innocent people in his quest, you could say dangerous.... but aside from all that, he's even more right about her, 'Miss' intergalactic super racist who thinks her species has the right to genocide us "dirty apes" as she called it.

Ive seen some people just take everything she says at her word (near the end, which is ironic because at that point THEY actually have to believe in the 'conspiracy theories' that shes talking about)... like she isnt very clearly, intentionally lying/being manipulative at multiple points in the movie.

This video is outstanding I really appreciate the effort.

I liked the movie, but the ending with the aliens wearing knitted sweaters looked like something they would have made fun of on Mystery Science Theater 3000

A lot to digest in this film. Part of me really believed that this is an attack on the selfishness of the individual vs the collective. You could feel how angry Stone’s character was that the Emperor continued to give the human race so many chances…which is ironic seeing how she’s in charge of a corporation. It has this patronizing, “Why don’t you just do as I say because it’s for your own good, human!”
I have to see the original Korean version.

I loved Don! But also one thing that gave away that she was an alien is when it show her talking to Teddy and his mom. Teddy is a little kid but she looks the same age.

I feel like the fact that the Andromedans are just the original humans also shows that they aren't above the human problems they're supposedly eradicating. If what Michelle said about the dinosaurs was true, it's a human failing the Andromedans exhibited by accidentally wiping out the dinosaurs and then infecting the planet with an unstable variant of their kind. The sweeping systems and decisions made by the powers that be are a dangerous thing.

The editing is very impressive This deserves recognition.

One thing I haven't seen anyone comment on about this flick, is the flat earth joke at the end.

Presumably, the Andromedeans(?) have advanced knowledge of astromony.  It is interesting, then, that at the end of the movie the model of the earth they are consulting is the flat earth model -- a round flat disk, surrounded by an ice wall, covered in a transparent dome amd that puncturing the dome brings an end to human life..  The movie seems to be telling us, with tongue planted firmly in its cheek, that conspiracy theorists are right.

One visual thing I was struck by is the close up of Michelle as the emperor with her reddish headdress. I thought the image evoked Elizabeth I, from paintings and films depicted that monarch.

OMG thank you! I thought it was just me, when I watched uncut.Gems , I thought I was about to have a heart attack!

The realism vs sci-fi/fantasy aspect of the twist ending is a reflection of the film's idea that humanity and existence are simultaneously both mundane and miraculous. We as a species and as individuals are both profound and insignificant.

The idea of Teddy turning out to be right is highly improbable and the equivalent of a clock is always right twice. It is both miraculous and highly unbelievable.

I think Don is the person who is actually worthy of salvation because he is the only character who acts from a place of empathy, compassion, and love. Because of this, behaviorwise, he is able to do the "right" thing. Ironically, despite his moral honesty and worthiness, Don ultimately chooses non-existence.

In contrast, Teddy and Michelle both act with violence and aggression as they seek to establish their own worthiness and significance at the expense of the other. Teddy wants to be a worthy hero to escape his feelings of insignificance due to neglect. Michelle wants to assert her supremacy as a divine ruler and superior being.

I was wondering... Does Teddy blow himself up thinking he is going to save humanity by assassinating the emperor on the mothership, or was it just a random, freak accident?

This is kinda dark, but in the corpse montage, it would have been funny if it showed a man laying on a chair underneath a noose.
Implying he was already going to commit you know what. I say that because I feel like I understand the director's unusual sense of humour.
