I'm 39 years old, I have a secure job, I earn decent money... and next week I'm handing in my notice.

I don't have another job lined up. In fact, I never intend to have another job again.

This isn't retirement, and I'm not claiming I've already achieved financial freedom. I've simply reached a point where I've realised I don't want to spend the rest of my working life exchanging my time for a salary.

Over the years I've worked in the military, close protection, driven trucks and eventually moved into transport planning. Alongside that, I've been building income outside employment through writing, business and investments.

Now I'm taking away the safety net.

This channel is going to document what happens next: trying to replace my salary, building independent income, making investments, trying new businesses, making mistakes and ultimately finding out whether it's actually possible to build a life where I never need another employer.
