I went on the Mummy shortly after the refurb here in Orlando and was solo riding that day. There was a kid sitting next to me about 13 years old and as we were waiting for the ride to get moving, he just kept kind of leaning into my space and grabbing at my seat and after a couple minutes of it and realized he was actually terrified to go on this ride, but was with some other teenage boys that were so excited. I don’t think he felt he could share how scared he was.
So I quietly told him “just so you know there’s a part in the ride that’s going to act as though the ride is over it’s not, that’s when the big drop happens“ and he responded. “are you serious?” I told him “yes, I’ll let you know when it’s coming and also the part that goes backwards I’ll give you the heads up”

I basically coached this kid through his first writing of the mummy which some people would say why are you spoiling all of the fun parts for him but honestly, he was so grateful to know what was coming when it was coming and not be embarrassed in front of his friends for being scared of a ride.

I really liked how you interviewed the former cast members and intertwined it into your narrative. I love most themepark videos explaining rides, park lore, but it's refreshing to have different voices in one video 👏

I remember the day my mom showed me the trailer for the ride as if it were yesterday. I was five years old, and my mom called me into her room and said, "Guess what? Universal has a new Mummy ride." We saw the trailer on her laptop for the first time, and at the end we both said "Wow" together. Fast-forward: I remember being SO pumped to ride the ride, but as we got deeper into the cue, I started to get SUPER SCARED. Lmao, For some years I was safe from riding it until I was 10 and tall enough to ride it. I got on scared out of my mind, but got off asking, "Can we ride it again before we leave?" My mother passed away in 2015, and I ride it every chance I get to visit the park in homage to her. It was her favorite of all time.

We tricked my grandma (who hates roller coasters) onto the ride and she ended up riding it again the same day! I love this ride so dearly, and ill be truly distraught if it ever closes

I swear when I was a kid in the Scarab Chamber they used to drip water on you as the room went dark to simulate the scarabs dropping on you, haven't felt it for years though

I was HORRIFIED of this ride as a kid.

I’ve never seen another ride have a fake out ending like The Mummy. I genuinely fell for it when I first rode it and was convinced the Mummy was actually after me.

Ironically, it’s now one of my favorite attractions at all of universal.

The last phallic image you showed is actually a real hieroglyph! Maybe the designer picked it because it looked phallic, but it is also accurate 🤷🏻‍♀️

As a current universal team member, one of my favorite things is to hear stories from people who opened their attractions, especially if those attractions are extinct now. I just love hearing other tm’s experiences getting to work on beloved attractions. I also personally know some people who have worked at Revenge of the Mummy and have talked about how they think it’s haunted too 😅

Opening crew member here. 👋 Working at the Mummy was such a special experience, it's stayed with me all these years along with many friendships made while working there. There were definitely many shenanigans afoot during the early days as well. So much fun.

To this day, there has never been another ride like The Mummy that has given me such joy. I rode this ride as a kid and to this day, it's one of my favorite rides ever. I'll never forget my first time riding as a child and a cast member spent the entirety of the loading time laughing maniacally at me to scare me. It was horrifying, but I ended up loving the ride so much.

There are two must rides for me every time. Revenge of the Mummy and Cat in the Hat. Complete opposites yet both are full of quirky nostalgia for me.

My mom took my to universal Florida when I was twelve. She had saved over a year to take me. I still have so many of those memory engrained in my head. That place truly is amazing. Disneyland is cool but universal’s really where the magic is. It really blossomed my love for film making

I worked at mummy for 5 years as an attractions attendant. Some of the best and worst times I had working at universal, but the ride itself, the operation, the theme, everything about the ride itself was always so special to me.
