We left the small village where Munisha’s family warmly hosted us for the night, about 80 km before reaching Khorog, the capital of Tajikistan’s Badakhshan Oblast. In Khorog, we said goodbye to our friend Daniel as he continued toward Dushanbe, while we turned toward one of the most remote and breathtaking places on Earth — the Wakhan Corridor, running along the Afghan–Tajik border.
Shortly after leaving Khorog, we took a break by the Panj River on the way to Ishkashim. Across the river, a group of Afghan girls and boys were dancing. When they noticed us, they waved, laughed, and tried to communicate with us from the other side. That simple, joyful moment became one of the most touching experiences of our entire journey.
As we continued deeper into the corridor, the military presence increased on the Tajik side, with checkpoints and patrols along the road. By evening, we reached a small town near the Bibi Fatima hot spring, where we stayed for the night.
