I think these videos should have the tense changed from “did” to “might have” because it’s very hard to tell when the point of divergence is, especially when you give details like specific commanders doing things that are in fact purely hypothetical. Some people will walk away with assumed knowledge of events that didn’t happen.

Man I miss the real Griffin Johnson

I’m liking these ‘what if’? episodes! Keep ‘em up!

I love the red hue used in communist scenes and the blue hue used in nationalist scenes, very cool touch.

My 97 year old grandpa was a US marine in China at the end of WW2 during its fall to communism. He was sniped at once, not realizing he carried the shrapnel from his helmet deflecting the bullet until 60 years later in TSA screening. He remembers the communist forces lining the hillsides around the last city he was in on the mainland, just waiting for American forces to leave on their boats that evening and found it a surreal sight.

They gave him a BAR for armored train security duty on the supply lines between the warehouses and came to love that weapon.

Marshall was a disaster for the KMT especially when Chiang Kai-Shek finally decided to halt his offensive just outside of Harbin.

Ah Scenario B, White Sun triumphant would be an interesting one to explore further

China wouldn't have been a democracy AT LEAST until the 90's, like irl Taiwan

To keep with the alternative history videos, you should do something like, “what if Carthage beat Rome”, or “what if the Normans lost to the Anglo-Saxons”

An unexpected but welcome surprised ❤🎉 I love alternative history videos

Good scenarios for this episode. In my opinion as a historian, the two state system would not have worked well in China as it does in Korea right now. In China, it had to be one or the other. If Chiang Kai-shek would have done away with corruption , done land reforms for the peasants, and worked very very closely with the US, then the Nationalists would have definitely won the Chinese Civil War. But because Chiang was so stubborn and wanted to still retain power and would terrorize low income people, he basically changed the favor of the people to the CCP. It's fun to think about these scenarios.

What if? Project National Glory (Project Guoguang) was ever executed? It was a military plan made by the KMT some years after retreating to Taiwan to retake the mainland. I thought you'd include it in this video about the possibilities of a Chinese civil war.

Can you Make a alternative scenario where iranian revolution failed or never happened and how Iraq Iran war would look like thank you ❤

My grandfather served in the US Army in WW2 in the forgotten CBI theater under Stillwell. I'm glad people are beginning to tell these stories again. I have a photo of him standing with Chiang Kai Shek that we found among my grandmother's things after she passed on. Dad didn't know much about granddad's service, as he didn't talk about it much. However, he spoke fluent Cantonese and forever had a deep respect for the chinese people, so it's obvious the country influenced him. He did not like the way china tore itself apart after the war ended, but he was not in a position to do anything about it. He ended up getting called to fight in Korea as well, and ended up dying of emphysema before I came into the picture. I never met him, so all I learn about this terrible yet pivotal area of the war is learning my own history as well. Big thanks.

Hear this out: What if? Spanish War of Succession
A) Habsburg King, partition with France
B) Habsburg King, total inheritance, total victory

My great grandpa served as a nationalist during Chinese civil war after the communist won, Chiang Kai-shel and his soldiers ran to Taiwan and my great grandpa survived

5:06 Guanghxi Clique mentioned. Raaaahhhhhhhhh🦅🇹🇼

If this is what happened during the Chinese Civil War, then Korea will be united in one banner. Since their is no help that comes from Communist China.

I hope you make a video on how nationalist china winning the civil war would effect the vietnam war and korean war and cold war
