When I was a kid, some builders came to do a bit of work and their van was one of these Comma's. It had a hole in the floor and one of our cats got up through it and ate their sandwiches :)

That wasn’t a thimble as it was made of rubber. We had them at the Post Office to get a better grip of the letters whilst sorting.

I used to work at Autosleepers in the joinery shop when that was built making the cupboards it looks very primitive now

My parents bought a Commer minibus in about 1973 (OUV409F) and converted it into a motorcaravan with loads of 3/8" ply and homemade bedding, cushions and curtains. I slept across all three front seats (I was 8 at the time). Had a few engine issues with gasket failures and coolant losses but gave us several enjoyable years then we sold it on. Great to see another one now.

The pale green conical thing with the flap is for glass milk bottles.  Take the foil offthe bottle, press that securely on top, lift the flap to pour milk.

I’d completely forgotten about Wasp air gun pellets. Brings back good memories of my Gat air pistol and my BSA air rifle back in the 70’s. Oh happy days

I’m 54 now but I was born in 1971 and I fondly remember seeing these Commer Vans driving on U.K. roads in East London. The ones I remember was British Telecom Commer Vans in Yellow. A common van back then but not so common nowadays, now we reminisce and appreciate how things were back then in Britain… I’ve also just noticed in your video two metal rings that screw into the wood, either side of the crockery cabinet and an extendable wire which hooks onto the metal rings, either side to secure the plates and saucers in place. The same type of extendable wire with metal hooks on the ends that my mum used, but was much longer to use for her cloths washing line in our garden. Placing the same metal rings into the brick wall, either side and attaching the exact same type of extendable wire with metal hooks on each end, so my mum could hook the extendable wire onto the metal rings and dry our clothes outside in our garden. It’s funny how you see something again, no matter what object it is and straight away it takes you’re mind back all those years, like it was yesterday. 6:52

I love your van! I remember these in the 70’s. My parents had a VW split screen camper van. So many good memories. Vehicles had so much character in those days.Now they all look the same. 😊

I remember the '5 Pints' bottle. That was powdered milk, that had the distinction of tasting like white coloured water when mixed.

What a wonderful old thing. We had the Bedford equivalent. It was simple, basic and homely. Loved it. Health to enjoy your time with this wonderful van 👍🏻

Fantastic. Brings back childhood memories when my parents had one of those and Dad driving from home in Scotland down through France and over the French alps into Italy to holiday with family in Rimini. Also the many trips around Scotland as well we had many wonderful times.

It would be interesting to see you make a video of the cottage you have bought requiring renovation. I really like Peggy.
