Watched this entire course and not knowing too much about poker. Entered my first tournament with over 100 people and came 2nd. Highly recommend. Literally watching this entire course again because bad habits have crept into my game.
This is one of those video series that you thoroughly enjoy and you feel compelled to share it, but the information is so good that the last person you want to know…. is a friends you play poker against 😂
I’ve been playing online Texas Hold ‘em for a week. The highest I placed was runner up. After this video I won the very next game with a full table. Thank you so much. 02-04-26
A soiid overview of some of the fundamentals. Some nitpicky clarifications: @50:11, the slide says "You cannot make a full house or better without a pair on the board". This is not strictly true as a straight flush is better than a full house and does not require a pair on the board. @54:10, the explanation of knowing when your full house is the best overall hand is a little muddled. There are multiple concepts being touched on at once - knowing when quads is not possible, knowing when you have the best full house, and ultimately knowing if you have the absolute best hand. If there is only one pair on the board, queens for example, and you have a full house with a queen, then no one can have quads. But this does not guarantee you have the best overall full house, ie if there is a king or ace on the board then the best full house becomes kings full of queens or aces full of queens (requiring a holding of pocket kings or pocket aces). And even the best full house might still not be the best overall hand. We have to know all the cards on the board because of the possibility that other cards might make a straight flush possible. @55:05, "his hand is queens and jacks" (correct) "and the other guys is sevens and tens" (incorrect, the other guys hand is jacks and tens. he still loses to the queens and jacks though) @59:50, "this guy's doing a little dance, because he just flopped the nut flush" (incorrect, he just turned the nut flush). @1:05:35, "the minimum bet he can make is the big blind" (sort of? this is calling the big blind) "and the second minimum bet he can make is two big blinds" (careful with the wording here, probably meant to say "raise" here, the slide wording is better)
Just came back from Vegas and was my first time playing poker other than friends and family. I won 3 of my 7 tournaments. I forget which video he goes over how to read the board but it helped me win 3 tourney and when I didn’t follow I got busted and just missed the money. In one tourney top 3 out of 27 got paid and I was busted in 4th place after being big stack 3 hands prior 😅
