I'm 73...volunteered at a retirement home doing free mend ing once a month. Did it 9 years. I was blessed by all the happy smiles. Still do mending for my neighbors.
I got a hole on my waist or pocket and lost some things falling through it. I am 72 and have arthritis but decided to try a sew it closed, only about 4-5 inches. I eventually managed to get the thread in the needle, and started on the seam, a patch pocket. Navy blue on navy blue! Took ages. To my surprise when I got to see it in daylight, the seam was straight and strong! I was really Impressed. Learned sewing at school.
I’ve been listening to pioneer survival stories for a few months, while I sew. This story was THE BEST of them all. It was realistic and plausible and NOT full of the inconsistencies and discrepancies that 75% of the other stories were full of. Thank you for an enjoyable story.
From Michigan. I sewed my own clothes in school and made my children's clothes when i had them. Very enjoyable. Couldn't continue because of my divorce and had to get a regular job to raise 3 children. ❤
I loved the historical detail, the unexpected business partnership and triumph against tyranny. However, I wanted to know when or if the marriage became a one of the heart instead of being merely contractual.
78, still sewing, by hand and machine. Crochet, knit, embroidery, quilting. Plus a good many other things. I was blessed with 2 grandmothers and a wonderful mom in law who taught me what I didn't know.
Great story, I can’t sew a button on, I am a great landscaper, can handle domestic animal, but a huge disappointment to my mom who could sew, tat, crochet , and knit. Oh well…we all have our strengths
