Welcome to Ljubljana, Slovenia – country number 34 on our world travel journey! In this video, we explore the best of Ljubljana in one day, from iconic bridges to local street food and quirky drinks.

We begin by visiting the famous Triple Bridge and Dragon Bridge, before trying Slovenia’s traditional sausage dishes, including Kranjska klobasa and Jota stew. We also taste Borovničke (blueberry liqueur), explore Ljubljana Castle for stunning city views, and walk through the city’s street art district – which honestly, we weren’t sure about.

Later, we try Cockta, a traditional Slovenian soft drink with a unique flavor, and wrap up the day with classic Ljubljana stews and Štruklji (rolled dumplings). This was an unforgettable day in Slovenia’s capital – perfect for budget travelers, food lovers, and curious explorers!

The castle is 1000 years old!
The houses in old town are built approx in the 16th century. We just take care of our heritage 💛

OMG, I can't believe you didn't like Cockta, it's so much better than coca-cola in my opinion. I saw a different review from Americans tasting it, and they absolutely loved it.

The original purpose of the tree bridges was to separate traffic. The wider bridge in the middle was meant for tram tracks and road traffic. Later for buses and cars. The other two narrow bridges were meant for pedestrians. Now, however, the old city center is intended exclusively for pedestrians and three bridges have lost their original purpose.

Love the great representation of Ljubljana! It's nice to see tourists enjoying what it has to offer. And definitely go visit the Julian Alps and mountainside, it's gorgeous!
I do have to add, at 16 min in the video, when you enter Metelkova street, it's sad that it has really come to being felt as "dodgy" in the nighttime. That used to be one of the coolest streets with variety of cultures, metal, punk, rock, alt and more just hanging out and having a good time. Not even sure when but eventually it turned into a street where people openly sell drugs and shit and it's digusting to see, hence the dodgy part. It's still relatively safe, but I used to feel safe leaving my backpack on a table and walking around, now I know it'd get stolen immediately if unattended...

Looks like you've had fun. :-) The food you've tried is mainly from the central parts of the country, but the cuisine varies wildly depending on the region. In the western parts you'll find dishes heavily influenced by Italian cuisine, and with strong mediterranean notes (more fish and fresh vegetables, minestrone style stews packed with veggies, prosciutto ham). Even dishes like jota differ from place to place. Eg. my grandma always made with pickled turnips instead of sauerkraut. If you're ever passing through again, you may want to give it a try.

If you have visited Ljubljana, which is the capital of Slovenia, it is also worth visiting Ptuj, which is the oldest city in Slovenia. You can see the old castles and Ptuj is famous for the European Carnival. Piran is also a very beautiful city, which lies by the sea and is also an old city and very beautiful. One of the beautiful destinations and is a real pearl of Slovenia, is Bled.
