The Ukrainian Defense Forces are seeing positive developments in the Donetsk sector , but it's too early to draw definitive conclusions, a Ukrainian soldier with the call sign Muchnoy said on his Telegram channel .
The soldier said that positive progress has been observed in the Shakhovsk area, but fighting continues, and it is very heavy.
"There are positive developments, but there's no room for undue optimism yet – fighting in this area remains extremely difficult," he said. Muchnoy claims that, according to available information, the enemy has already been driven back from at least two settlements. However, he added that fighting there continues, so it's too early to talk about complete stabilization.
"However, the very fact that the enemy has been pushed back indicates a certain turning point in certain areas," the military man believes.
He added that it seemed as if four enemy armies were operating in this area—the concentration of forces was very serious. Muchnoy noted that for this reason, every advance was difficult. In the Liman direction, the situation also became more complicated due to enemy activity.
"The Liman area has also become more difficult recently: the enemy is concentrating its attention there, amassing forces, and attempting to create the necessary density for further action," Mukhnoy explained.
He advises paying attention not only to information about individual advances or retreats, but also to where exactly the enemy is accumulating reserves and where he is shifting the main pressure. "The situation is still dynamic. There are some positive aspects, but it's too early to draw any final conclusions," he concluded.
Media previously reported that, according to Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov, Russia does not intend to stop until it captures all of Donbas. Peskov claims that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin "wants peace." However, since this is currently impossible to achieve, he declared the Kremlin's intention to continue the war. The Kremlin press secretary emphasized that Russia is ready to fight "for even 0.01% of the territory" of Donbas . According to Peskov, this is Russian territory, so "there is nothing to discuss." Former Aidar Battalion company commander Yevhen Dykyi stated that the Liman sector, where the Defense Forces are conducting an offensive operation, has long been extremely difficult for Ukrainian defenders. Dykyi asserts that Russia is conducting one real operation on the front, the goal of which is to encircle from multiple sides the last major urban agglomeration in Donbas remaining under Ukrainian control. The serviceman explained that this refers to the battles for the last four major cities under Ukrainian control in the Donetsk region: Kostiantynivka, Druzhkovka, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk. Dykyi noted that the Ukrainian military has failed to find a weak spot in the Russian defense, and that progress is being made thanks to the reforms of Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatiy.
