Welcome back today we’re taking you on an incredible trip to Shipshewana, Indiana—the heart of Midwest Amish Country! From camping right in the center of the action to exploring massive markets, eating legendary food, and taking an authentic buggy ride, this quaint little town is an absolute must-visit.
Here is exactly how we spent our time exploring Shipshewana, and why you need to add it to your travel bucket list!
📍 Where We Stayed & What We Did:
• The Perfect Camping Spot: We parked our rig at the RV Service Center's campground. If you are planning a trip here, this is the ultimate hack because you are camping literally right beside the world-famous flea market!
• Shipshewana Flea Market: We spent hours hunting for treasures at the massive outdoor flea market. Note for planners: It’s only open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., so time your trip right!
• The Live Auction: On Wednesday morning, we woke up early to catch the live auction. It kicks off every Wednesday at 9:00 AM sharp, and the energy is unmatched.
• Dinner at the Blue Gate Restaurant: You cannot visit Shipshewana without eating here. We tackled the famous Blue Gate Buffet—at only $`21.99 per person, it is an absolute steal for some of the best home-cooked food and jaw-dropping desserts you will ever imagine.
• Downtown & An Authentic Buggy Ride: We wrapped up our trip with a peaceful walk around downtown Shipshewana and topped it off with an authentic Amish horse and buggy ride. It was only `$13 per person (rates vary depending on the length of the tour you choose), and it was the perfect way to experience the charm of this small town.
