and yes I hate how they decided to release those special Neocolor 2s. again, because I cant afford to buy a tin of multiple crayons I already own only to get the few new ones. But that was their decision, not yours. I totally get why those sets look appealing and if I didnt own so many (bought mostly open stock a few at a time) I would have bought one or two sets too!
Sorry to say, but due to the current situation in the country, it's unlikely you'll be able to get your hands on this set if you're not from the former USSR. But I would like to tell more about this paint anyway, haha)
The "Невская Палитра" factory started back in 1899, and during World War II, they kept churning out materials for military. Before that, their main products were oil and watercolors, and pretty much every artist in the USSR used them. All the art schools and colleges recommended this paints back then. I actually have a set of watercolors that my dad used to study with.
Nowadays, the factory makes all sorts of stuff - watercolors, gouaches, tempera (those are different types of paints), oils, acrylics, pastels, color pencils, and more. They've got three lines of products - Sonnet (for beginners), Ladoga, and Master-Class (top tier). In watercolor Master-Class is "White Night" and "Leningrad" (it's a bit confusing, haha).
Unfortunately, paints quality has been going downhill lately. A lot of people complain about air bubbles in pans, under-filled paint tubes, mold, and poor pigment quality. I saw that the watercolor pans are filled by hand (toxic cadmium ones as well), and the workers have to clean the mixing pots manually. The salary at the factory is around 650 euros. A lot of artists in Russia don't like Невская Палитра anymore, and we're glad to see that there are new paint companies popping up, like Pinax, Gamma and Malevich.
