The original STO concept by peripheral had full XYZ piloting like bridge commander. I'm kinda sad that we never got that.

correction on Fly Her Apart, you have to be at 50% throttle when you start it but it sustains itself even if you fully brake afterwards. it only deactivates if you re-click it or fall below the hull threshhold. you can pregame it in the briefing period of TFOs for a pretty sizable damage buff on the first wave. and the damage is pretty minor especially with the higher end versions of the ability.

If you disable "double-tap to roll" in the HUD, set "Options->Controls->Tap movement direction twice to roll" to OFF, and then set "Options->Key Binds->Pilot Ship Maneuver" to "Left Shift," you can then use the shift key + WASD to trigger pilot maneuvers. So, for example, you can tap "A" as much as you want, and all it will do is cause your ship to turn left - but if you hold down Shift and hit "A," your ship will roll to left. This makes pilot maneuvers much more usable.

Lock trajectory is a fun ability that works great for easy flanking damage without a lot of finicky maneuvering ahead of time. It makes space combat feel like combat in space, and the game is SO much better for it. There is no need to buff this Chad ability with stats or numbers—the power is in what it lets you do with a zippy ship with forward-facing armaments in terms of piloting.

Let's not forget the ultimate reason for Pilot... Barrel Rolls! We all know it's those visuals baby!! Lil anecdote: I use to love getting the old Hirogen Hunter off the exchange for less than a mill EC and snatching the console off it which allows your ship to flip a sick 180 (Locked to Raider/Escort ships iirc unfortunately). Literally use to snatch it and slap it on a ship JUST to fly around with my friends when they still played STO.

I love lock trajectory, the ability that removes its cooldown allows you to do drive-bys with raiders , its always on my Klingons bird of prey.

fly her apart is one of my favorite abilities to use in TFOs where enemies are spread out. if you have an ability that gives you bonus hull, FHA will take from that instead, so it becomes a free damage buff that charges while you fly to the next enemy.

Disagree on Fly Her Apart. It's a more than decent all bonus damage for minimal damage taken. I use it all the time to get from one defend point to another. Agree on Pilot being underappreciated.

On console the only way to use pilot maneuvers without rebinding, is to click the thumbstick and then a directional flick so it can be very easy to set off Accidentally.
Also some of the best abilities don't have Auto execute options making yhem extremely tedious/inconvenient, including both Clean getaway (uncon) and Fly her Apart (Bonis Dmg).

I honestly use reinforcement squadrons on my legendary intrepid class. This is for the endless shuttle meme build. This is used with a boarding party (Yes, I know it's a unless boff power), and the new mission scout ship boff powers. With the repurposed cargo bays trait and a hangar of type 7's on top of the aero combat pet console, scatter packs and weasels console. The type 14 beacon works well with superior command frequency and friends in unusual places trait as well. 😅😂 spam unless shuttles from a ship that had an endless supply in the show.

Time for a Legendary Nova hopefully soon with the Constellation, the Nebula, the Prometheus, the Negh'var and the Dominion Lundle (Legendary Bundle) with the Galor/Keldon, Breen Chell Garrett, Jem'Hadar Dreadnought and Jem'Hadar (Light) Battlecruiser. ^^

I love pilot ships i have the Andorian T6 pilot ship Thozen class and the Klingon pilot Raptor Kotar class and i plan to get the Gorn hunter pilot when i complete the campaign. They are great ships.
