For everyone just starting I did all the math and how much cord for each step :)
Layer 1: 8 x 4 yards = 32 yards
Layer 2: 6 x 2 yards = 12 yards
Layer 3: 32 x 9" = 8 yards
6 x 30" + 6 x 32" + 6 x 34" = 16 yards + 26"
Total: about 81 yards
using 3mm cord on a 3/8" dowell

thanks to those who put the measurements into both English, and who translated the lengths into Metres. That was a great help. I decided to twist up this pattern by making each of the 3 sections a different colour to match (the friend who I was making it for) home decor. I used yellow cord for the back, light grey for the spiral twist and dark grey for the front section and it turned out great. Thanks so much for the tutorial - this really is such a helpful community.

Eu usei um bastão de madeira com 0,60 cm ou pode usar galhos de árvores  seco,usei tbm barbantes 24 fios ,mais pode usar cordão  de algodão de 3mm .

As for me as a beginner this was by far the best easiest Tutorial.

I just wanted to say thank you for the explanation of the inner cord and the outer cords being different lengths when doing spiral knots. As a beginner I cannot tell you how much that is appreciated.

I was born in the 50’s and by the time I hit high school we were do this with jute cord, I loved doing it, now I’m doing one for my granddaughter, but this time with white cotton cord.   You know what they say, all styles come back around again, well here we are.
