South Africa's approach to asylum applications is in focus following public concerns over a recent Home Affairs directive.

The Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on Migration says it was not consulted before the directive was issued in response to the Constitutional Court ruling.

SABC News' Ditaba Tsotetsi reports that Home Affairs has since withdrawn the directive.
