IMPORTANT INFORMATION! Please also watch this little add-on video which explains a little “mistake” in my test!
https://youtu.be/GV3Q_hi-5xo

As a former test engineer, I tend to be very critical of a lot of tests and their methodologies on youtube but you knocked it out of the park. I have zero notes. GREAT job!

Buddy of mine (professional FOH engineer) and me did a shoutout with those two years ago, and I really can feel your disappointment here. In the end we went with the Trave and it's really fine.

So interesting! Thanks so much for sharing Kristian!

Yessss Just got a 2nd hand Palmer DACCAPO Re-amp Box..  Over the moon I've finally got one.  Wooohoo !

I was thinking i went very cheap with the palmer. But this video make me feel happy about it

I read in different places the Palmer Trave is just the rebrand Palmer did of their previous Dacappo model, the one I have.
If that's the case: yes, the Palmer Dacappo adds some emphasis to the high end, near 20 kHz. You can easily see it: inject some noise into the box and watch the output spectrum. It's the only test I missed in the video.

Great video. Thank you for this.

Thanks for the very cool and comprehensive reviews.  Just to add a little info here, the 'red knob' Signal Art ReAmp as shown here was known as the 'AngReAmp' and was designed to have deliberate harmonic distortion and coloration.  So, what you measured was very deliberate, yes.  The hope was to have a 'fattening' effect on bass and guitar, and possibly a way to 'cure' thinly recorded DI tracks.  The AngReAmp (red knob) was made as a deliberate 'counterpart' to the standard (blue knob) Signal Art ReAmp which was extremely transparent... possibly the cleanest/high gain reamp out there.  Like 'mastering grade' clean, and so much so that people asked for years for one to be made that had more color... and thus the AngReAmp was born out of that.  A few years back, both Signal Art reamp circuits were then combined into one box and manufactured under the United Studio Tech brand, in the form of the RePlay Box.  The RePlay Box is an exact reproduction of both circuits, both original transformers are used, but the UT box is more ruggedized.  Thanks to the benefits of mass production, we were able to give it a higher quality shell and customized pots and switches rated for a longer life expectancy... and the recessed controls made it more rugged for the road.  I worked really hard to covert the handmade boxes over to the UT version, and was very concious of the 'Klon Centaur' effect the whole time we were working on that conversion... I didn't want a situation where people would still seek out the original hand-wired version.  I did everything I could to ensure the UT box surpassed the original, and even the traces on the board are thick, curved traces with few vias or right angles to even replicate the wire orientation and impedance characteristcs of the hand-wired units.  It was a pretty OCD hand-over because the original ReAmp was kind of my beginnings in electronics going back to 2002 and was very important to me...  :)  thanks for listening!
Chad

i use my Palmer boxes daily two old yellow models and one of the Trave boxes. and they are bulletproof for me.

Perfect, thank you!

Great job.

I use a Little Labs IBP (in between phase) because i wanted the analog phase sweep tool so i can place mics where they individually sound best. Instead of where they are in phase. (Which i love). I don't know what the range of output is for the reamp signal, but it's gotta be a lot. It handles the high power of my da converter or the low power of my vintage mixing console very well. (Though it requires a lot of mini-pot turning to change from one source to the other)!

I use the blue radial with a clean gain boost pedal. I've got the clean gain set where it's basically at unity with the the original signal.

Very good thanks.  I don't play metal ...don't know how i got here but glad i did!

I’ve got one of the radial rmps but also found that a ART makes a dual amp box for pretty cheap.  I might try this comparison at home

I've got a great little workflow for gain staging my reamps. I plug my reamp box straight into my guitar DI (the same one I used to record the guitar) and gain match the signal coming into the DI box (from the reamp) to the previously recorded DI signal I'm reamping.

I also record a brief "sanity check" track for checking recording delays etc.

Which Reamping Boxes are you using and why?

your last video gave me the curiosity for try to reamp with a DI box and now i only use warm DI pasive box, for DI and REAMP
