There shouldn’t be a statue of limitations. Murder is murder.

Random Japanese here, and yup,  I was in high school when she was arrested, and her face was all over the media during the last few weeks right before the 15 years were about to expire. We were all aware of what she looked like and how she sounded.
Once she was arrested, the image of her sobbing with her head covered in a coat was shown on the news, and I remember her hands  peaking from underneath the coat, and she was wearing red nail polish.

She died behind bars, all sad and lonely. Fitting ending for her, I suppose. What a sad life though, she did seem to be a smart woman with great communication skills. She could have lived a nice life if she wasn't such a jealous woman.

I would love to know how she manipulated the phone signals back then? That's pretty clever and resourceful.

In Kazakhstan, a 16-year-old boy named Sherzat was brutally murdered right in front of his brother. The perpetrators split Sherzat's head in two. Despite the family's efforts to bring justice, the case has dragged on with no response from authorities. Recently, it was reported that Sherzat's brother was also killed, with claims of suicide being false.
Their house was burned down, and their grandmother was placed in a psychiatric institution. The family continues to receive threats. Please share this situation to raise awareness and ensure justice is served

Only 11 hours before the limitations of the laws is insane!!! Bravo to the police.

I am always appreciative of how well Megan pronounces Japanese names and places. I know she does her research to make sure but I never see people pronounce it this well! Thank you always for your videos!

What I love most is how you go straight to the point, no personal story no dragging and no forced pleading for subscribe or likes. Plus the story, subtle music and engaging way of using you voice to do the story telling SERIOUSLY, I love it. Thats why I'm subscribing. No bullshit and just wonderful. Keep up the good job!

I just wanna know how her son was able to escape the police's notice? I don't know about her other children but the fact Fukuda still kept in contact with him throughout the years, to the point he got married, how incompetent were the police? Didn't it enter their mind to keep an eye on the son these whole time? 🤔thank you for this Megan!

What a crazy story! And if she had just stayed hidden a matter of days longer she would have remained free. Did she just get tired of hiding or did she want to pay for her crime on some level? Thanks, Megan!

In my country, there is a saying that"days of a thief are 40".the fact that they located her on the 39th day before she escaped their grasp again says a lot...

By the way, 4 million yen donated by the hospital where Kazuko underwent cosmetic surgery was added to the original 1 million yen, and the final bounty for Kazuko was 5 million yen.

The owner of the oden shop donated all the bounty money she received to people in need.

She had enough money for surgery but not enough money to flee the country???

I know that the Korean drama "Signal" was based on true korean crime stories that I have seen a list of, but her being apprehended hours before the case expired and her marking the day on the calendar reminds me of how the culprit of the first case in Signal was captured

Even after her arrest, Kazuko continued to give false statements in order to make the statute of limitations expire, causing trouble for the police until the very end.

I hate how brilliantly cunning she is. I won’t lie, I was also starting to believe she might get away with it, after all. She managed to run and hide, while keeping contact with her family. I don’t know if she was that illusive or the police were that incompetent. She definitely had a lot of luck, and it’s sad that jealousy made her end someone’s life so senselessly.

I guess, I find solace in her eventually being caught. 17 years in prison, is still justice, I guess. Megan, thank you for excellent storytelling 🙏🏾💛💜

As an American whose watching for the 1st time, SO GLAD I FOUND YOU! I'm loving the story, the way you tell it, your voice is so nice to hear...And the comments are awesome. Someone wrote about remembering her arrest, which was an interesting side story. Subbed right away + look forward to binging + new vids ✌️💙

Her arrogance and confidence was her downfall. She could have gone off scott free and literally escaped justice, but her overconfidence in herself made her careless, hence she got caught. If she had just laid low, not socialised and stayed hidden and in doors for the last remaining month, she would have won. Or maybe, deep down she was just tired of all the running and was just wishing for it to come to an end.

When she returned just when the statute of limitations was close to expiring, my initial thought was, "How brazen can this woman be. Is this her way of showing that no law enforcement can catch her, even as she walks in plain sight?" But as I've reached 19:50, her statement says it all --- she's tired of running. Even if she's evaded capture for that long, the constant paranoia she felt... that 1 crime that constantly haunts her every step.... she knew that there won't be any peace granted to her, no matter how many times she reinvents her appearance & identity to start a new life. At the end of the day, she's recognized that she can't comfortably stay in 1 place for too long, because the cops would find a way to track her down.

If anything, I'm honestly surprised that in all this, her son never squealed on her, especially with her multiple visits under different guises (even when he was hired as a helper and was introduced falsely).

My day is complete now that Megan has released her video. Gorgeous as always Megan

Imagine if she was able to pass the expiration date. She may live free without punishment, but I sense she would endure a negative connotation from society being known as a murderer.
