Simple...it was a symbol of the REPUBLIC space navy...that is why they replaced EVERYTHING from the Grand Army of the Reublic and its associated Space Navy....from the smallest of soldiers blaster pistols to galactic capital class starships....EVERYTHING was replaced.

The empire would’ve won the battle of Yavin out of straight aura if there were venators there

Legendary refresh find

I think is also important that a lot of people in the galaxy knew the venator as the "Jedi cruiser" and palpatine wanted NOTHING to remind people Jedi existed, because that makes the people who remember the jedi from before the purge have Hope

Very good analysis of the situation at the time .Excellent even.

An interesting what if scenario would be to swap Tarkin and Thrawn’s positions in the empire. I’m sure the navy and military would still standardize and change, but its composition would likely be pretty different. The Tarkin Doctrine informed so much about their strategy, changing it would have drastic implications.

Palpatine also had it in his head that everything bigger was better, even if it was less effective.

If they used the venator as a midline carrier they could cram tons of ties in them the canjust arrive open door swarm fighters

yo imagine if shipooko rebeled to become admiral thrawl.

i would consider the Venator more like a Hybrid battleship. Like the ones in world of warships in the US Techtree (Delaware, louisiana, etc.)

His first flagship was exator.  First ship of the assembly libe , after thr prototype, thurd ship was executrix.  Tarmin

Yes the venator is very good ,excellent even and very upgradable.
why the empire abandon it ,well
Orbital bombardment.
The venetor while excellent in space battle is not good at orbital bombardments.
The imperial star destroyer is made for orbital bombardments.
And the empire had different doctrine from the republic.

Amazing video as always

Funny enough I would argue that a Venator with hyperspace capable Fighters is a more effective tool of patrolling large spaces and effective power projection than an ISD.
And the worst thing about this: The empire already had Venators.
Use them as your backbone and the ISD as your fists ffs

The empire's problem is that it has a lot of territory it has to patrol. Given that TIE fighters are basically just short-range interceptors, concentrating several of them into a single carrier is just not very good resource management.

Let me explain: the fans who say "the Empire should have kept Venators," I don't think they understand the kind of war the Empire was fighting. The Clone Wars were analogous to like WW2, where there were (for the most part) clearly defined factions and front lines and territories held. The Galactic Civil War on the other hand was far more akin to the Vietnam War, with the Rebellion being very much guerrilla fighters. From the Empire's perspective The Rebels could show up anywhere at anytime, do a hit and run, and vanish back into hyperspace before reinforcements can arrive. When facing guerrilla forces, one of the better tactics is to spread your own forces out. That way, no matter where they hit they can't just waltz in and take what they want for free.

Think of it this way: to patrol two dozen systems you can have one Venator that carries 420 fighters (but because Palaptine insists on funding the Death Star all you have are the non-hyperspace capable TIE fighters). OR -- for the same number of fighters you could stick a whole squadron and some spares at each system and still have enough left over to equip an Imperial-class. (Sure, you could do the same tactic with a Venator, but you're left with a less well armed and armored capital ship who's main advantage is negated because it's massive hangers are mostly empty.)

I suppose the point I am trying to make is that the Venator was quite frankly TOO overkill for the type of war the Empire was fighting. They needed to distribute their forces, not concentrate them.

I'm confused, the Venator Class Star Destroyer could carry 420 starfighters. Where does the 92 capacity come from? Did the Empire gut the hangers?

2 hour gang

Second 🙂😁

Because Empire is lame
