Before he became Eel in Friday, AJ Johnson was a young comedian from Compton trying to find his place in Hollywood. His journey took him from comedy clubs and Def Comedy Jam to movies, music videos, and unforgettable moments with some of the biggest names in Black entertainment.

But behind the laughter was a much more complicated life. AJ Johnson faced personal struggles, legal trouble, alcohol addiction, career setbacks, and difficult final years before his death at just 55.

This is the AJ Johnson story beyond Friday. A story about talent, persistence, struggle, friendship, and the legacy of a comedian and actor who made audiences laugh even when his own life was far from easy.
