Thanks for checking out our Santana reaction. Smooth is an interesting crossover song. We never would have expected these two sounds on one track.

Carlos Santana is the Jimi Hendrix of Latin America. He played in Woodstock as well. He is a legend.

This lead singer, Rob Thomas, was the lead singer of the very popular 90s band Matchbox 20. Santana is the guitarist, he did this album with a different lead singer on every track. Every singer was well known. The album got all kinds of awards.

Carlos Santana is one of the greatest guitar players EVER. Universally respected in the industry. He's done collaborations with anybody who's anybody. You're not a star unless you've done a song with Santana.

The song you’re referencing is Maria, Maria from the same album. Santana is unique in that he is a guitarist who hires in vocalists for his songs. His guitar work is unmistakable, making his music stand out even w/ a litany of other vocalists.

Santana..."Maria Maria"...could be what Brad is thinking about. Great song!!!

Rob Thomas deserves more respect as a singer.. Matchbox 20 is a guilty pleasure of mine.

I'm still shocked that folks don't know who Santana is?!?!?.. BUT you should have done the official video.. or at least a live version.

Good friggin' call Lex! Carlos Santana is playing guitar, and Rob Thomas, of Matchbox 20 is singing. Good ear! You guys should actually check out some Matchbox 20, I think you'd both like it.

I see Lex is already a fan. Carlos has been putting out his sound for around 55 years and has a huge catalog of hits. One you could get lost in for a long time.
