Rumours say after the film was released, Hopkins used to go to theatres and sit among the audience, and when the film ended, he asked the viewers if they liked the film in his Hannibal voice. Needless to say, bricks were shat.

Anthony Hopkins was on screen for about 16 minutes. I know of no other character/actor that has had such a meaningful impact on a film with that little amount of screen time. Incredible.

"Best thing for him really, his therapy was going nowhere..."

Love it! 🤣

I think that Hannibal appreciated the fact that Starling gave him genuine human contact, something that had been denied to him because of people's reaction to his crimes. It was kind of a beautiful experience for the guy.

When Clarice went to Buffalo Bill's house she didn't know she would encounter the killer. She was following a lead and went to speak to Mrs. Litman because Fredrica had worked for her.

That scene where Dr Hannibal tells Clarice about eating a census-taker’s liver and making that creepy noise, that was Jodie honest reaction. She said in an interview that she was terrified by Anthony’s performance. Especially, the part where she walks in to meet Hannibal and he’s standing there waiting for her. Love this movie. Glad you finally watched it.

The serial killer Ed Gein was caught in the 50s and the horrific things they found in his house help to inspire this movie, Texas chainsaw massacre, original psycho and many more. Human skin lamp shade and belt made of nipples were just a cpl

18:04 In small towns that don't have hospitals with a morgue, funeral homes will have the necessary equipment for that sort of work.

This wasnt a maximum prison, it was a makeshift jail at a Memphis courthouse for his short stay just after meeting the Senator at the airport.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd trust Dr. Lecter with any red wine recommendation.

Every actor in this movie did the performance of a lifetime. Everyone. Doctor Childers was a smarmy self important weasel. Crawford was an all business no nonsense supervisor who wanted results. The cops were confident. There were two of them, and only one unarmed man in a cage. They were tough street smart cops. The owner of the storage units. He didn’t want to know what was inside. As for why the examination was performed at the funeral home? There wasn’t anywhere else in that small little podunk town. Those small towns don’t have a big Medical Examiners building or office. They’re lucky if they have a doctor, and the coroner has actually been to medical school.

"Getting out.. getting anywhere... getting all the way to the F.. B.. I

So creepy the way he draws it out.

One of the biggest crimes is Netflix not continuing Mindhunter. Such a good series.

I love how this movie and Twin Peaks use a similar opening-credits typeface (font), undoubtedly as a result being produced at nearly the same time.

If you’re going to watch movies like this, you should consider watching one or more “happy” movies after this one, just to push the terror out of your mind.

This movie is the real deal, partially because of the performances, but also because of the quality writing. Whoever wrote the novel (and screenplay) put a massive amount of thought into how to reveal each tiny little layer of the story, and in just the right way.

When asked what was the key to getting into character, Anthony Hopkins said it was the hair. He said that pulled back hairstyle made it look like he brain was bulging old of his head, and he envisioned Hannibal as giant "killer brain." Not sure if he was serious. I've heard that Anthony Hopkins is a bit of a jokester. He once said that he went to a theater that was showing "Silence of the Lambs" and was sitting behind two women who were obviously very frightened by the movie, so when the theater lights came on at the end, he leaned over to them and asked "Did you like it?"

Will Graham who caught the “good doctor” ended in an institution for the criminally insane and Clarice rides off into the sunset with the “good doctor”.

"He just fed off of her. " So intelligent you are.

As a side note: If you want to see just how good an actor Anthony Hopkins is, now watch the movie "Meet Joe Black." You'll swear it can't be the same actor, even though it clearly is. It's not just the acting itself, but the whole demeanor, the look in the eye, all of it. Take one look at him as Lector and it sends chills through your spine. Take one look at his character in Meet Joe Black, and you'd trust him with your life.
