I wish the guy I climbed for was more enthusiastic about teaching me shit man. I left tree work because of him and started climbing towers again. But dude I’m dying to get into a tree. I’d much rather be in a tree and in the woods then up on a steel structure. Soemthing about tree work man. Feels amazing. 💯 thanks for the video man. You always make great content. Helps me understand allot.

It was pretty amazing to see how much line the knot uses. It's usually more than you think it will take.

And here I was about to order $120 worth of commercial lmao. Thanks a bunch man!

LOL WOW... I almost bought some pre-made, but thought, “...maybe I should Youtube this first..”.
This saved me $40.
This is like a facepalm experience of “of course I should make it myself”, that I didn’t realize.
Thanks!! ☺️

There are adjustments to be made with fixed length eye to eyes.  Apart from tying a different hitch you can change the number of wraps, turn the hitch 180° and clip on to the other side of the hitch, or even twist in or out the eyes to increase or decrease the grab of the hitch.  Richard Mumford goes into detail in one of his hitch tying videos.  I've climbed on factory spliced and tied eye to eye and don't mind either. The ability to choose an exact length is nice, but the sleekness of a spliced eye is a plus too.  No bulky knot to get in the way.  Trade offs.  It's the name of this game.  Good video though.

C- for not tasting the pint on camera

I found it pretty easy to splice my own, and then I can make custom lengths, dialing them in by trial and error, and writing down what you did, so you can replicate the "right" one.

I’m a weirdo who uses some pre-made eye-to-eyes as well as some DIY ones. I hear what you’re saying with the DIYs, but there are certain features available on some pre-mades that are hard to replicate yourself. There are certain scenarios when those features are worth having, so depending on the job I have some eye-to-eyes that I made from sterling 7mm, and I have some “VT Prusiks” from Bluewater.

Another great video from you Tree Muggs!  I’ve learned so much about climbing from you. Thank you so very much.

Just what I was looking for. Thanks Patrick.

Simply brilliant!
...which is the best kind of brilliant.

Love mods. Modify everything

I'm back because I just bought a new hank of 8mm and wanted to ensure I remembered how you had done this! It is pretty straight forward, but I'm pretty old! (Older than the head monkey beaver but younger than the guy from California with the water harp.) Thank you for sharing and stay safe!

Thanks

Thanks for another goodie

I spent $50 on ice tail and another high end cord by the foot. Bought too little to make 4 cords with eye splices and was ready to throw it all away because it was all too short to make my vision. All of that was worth it to find this vid and make this.

another great video !

Just subscribed Muggsy thanks!!

Spectacularly useful video!
Raining today, so I made two :-)
