Yes Beyoncé sings all the operatic section, which is in Italian, also she is classically trained. The song daughter is placed behind Jolene on purpose because the song details a confrontation/fight between a woman and her husbands mistress. It details a fantasy of wanting to exact revenge on the mistress. Also you were on point with the song being a daughter seeing the ways her father was and wanting to differ from that, but the anger and anguish from being cheated on makes her act like her father. Also you were right about beyonces father and her not having the best relationship.

Love her version of Jolene, instead of begging her to not to take her man, she is warning her that she can’t 🐝

Beyoncé can sing everything, cause she was raised in church and gospel. Once you master gospel, you can sing any genre

“Forgive us if it’s not the right video” who’s gonna tell em…
You are the visual baby

Beyoncé REFUSES to be boxed in any genre! Another great reaction!

Stevie Wonder’s on the harmonica on “Jolene”

Spaghetti was included just to make sure the country purists and people who were against her making this album were MAD. Adding a rap song with a ton of genres in one in the middle of a “country” album is something many people wouldn’t wrap their head around. Loved the reaction

You should watch the live performance of Daddy Lessons with The Chicks at the CMAs. I´m not sure if you´ve seen Beyonce perform live yet - but her incredible live performance skills are what puts her in a completely different category from anyone else.

I like to think of Daughter as a continuation of the story in Jolene. She warned the girl, beat her up and now she's self reflecting about what happens when she gets pushed too far. Virgo teas lol

Can't wait for ya'll to get to lemonade

She is the best, constantly reinventing herself staying relevant 30 years into her career. she’s truly one of the last legends of artists. if anything she transcends that with her vocals and dancing being better live

Spaghetti is the definition of genre bending, you either get it or you don’t. Daughter is one of my favorites on the album, it’s so stunning!

Spaghetti is a play on the term Spaghetti Westerns(60& 70s Cowboy Movies). They were not your typical/traditional western movies. These were made by Italian producers in Italy and Spain versus our Western(American made) movies. That's what makes this song even more special. Country music with rapping and black people on it is not what most consider traditional country songs. Music/ movies are to be created and consumed by any and all. There are no boxes with art.

I appreciate yall for the consistency! I love how genre-bending this album is. I dont mind the video mix ups as long as the lyrics are there for yall to enjoy the music better.

Spaghetti marks a sonic shift in the album

😂😂😂 they not tryna hear all that rapping lmaoooo

She’s classically trained Daughter is just a little taste of what she can do with her voice classically she’s absolutely amazing daughter is absolutely my favorite song on the album

There’s two things in Spaghetti that really sums up the genre bending in this album and that’s Linda Martell saying “genres are funny little concept” and Beyoncé saying “I ain’t no regular Sanger, now come get everything you came for!” 🔥

Y’all are doing an AMAZING job with this reaction, seriously, I love how thoughtful and open you are while listening. I just wanted to add a little context to a few of the songs you mentioned:

First, “Dolly P”, when Dolly Parton references “good hair,” that’s actually a callback to Lemonade, specifically the song Sorry where Beyoncé says, “You better call Becky with the good hair.” So it’s tying this project back to her earlier themes around infidelity.

On “Jolene,” this is NOT the same perspective as the original by Dolly Parton. Beyoncé isn’t begging, she’s warning. It’s more of a reclaiming of power. There are also theories that she may be channeling her mother’s perspective in parts of it, which adds another layer to the storytelling.

With “Daughter,” the story gets darker. The man and the other woman still end up together, and the wife spirals, there’s violence toward the mistress and even thoughts of killing her husband. Then she sings “Caro Mio Ben” (which basically expresses deep love like “you are my bliss, I can’t breathe without you”). That contrast shows emotional conflict, rage, heartbreak, and still being attached. It’s like she’s imagining destroying him while knowing she’d still feel lost without him.

And “Spaghetti” is VERY intentional. When Linda Martell says, “genres are a funny little concept,” that’s the setup. Beyoncé is making a statement about identity and music. She’s saying: I’m Black, I’m Southern, and my influences are layered. Music shouldn’t be boxed in. The “spaghetti” idea is that music should be like a full plate, noodles, sauce, seasoning, everything coming together. Not bland, not one-note. It’s also a nod to spaghetti westerns, but more importantly, it’s her pushing back on the idea that country (or any genre) has to sound one way. She’s expanding it and calling out how limiting it can be when it doesn’t evolve.

P.s. Beyoncé sings operatically all the time.

Daughter plays in the Italian esthetic which is then followed up by a song named after an Italian dish, all playing into the term spaghetti western.
