Corporate is the pot calling the kettle black. They post fake "ghost" jobs, switch-and-bait candidates, and copy listings just to harvest data—yet they cry "fraud" when applicants use AI. It’s an absurd double standard. They created this entire resume apocalypse with the horrible automated intake systems they all use now. They explicitly demand "AI experience" in their ads and pay us to build the tools they use for mass layoffs, but expect us to perform some manual resume dance instead of using those same tools for our own survival. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

If recruiters actually read resumes and didn't rely on AI to do everything this wouldn't be a problem.

Many outplacement services are telling folks to run there resumes through AI in order to get a better match. Recruiters have started leaning hard on AI. Now recruiters are complaining when applicants use AI. "It's okay for me, but not for thee."

Hiring managers thoroughly enjoy announcing they delete resumes that don't fit their exacting mechanical criteria, then they complain that all the resumes look the same. True genius at work.

It works both ways. Too many fake jobs/scam recruiters, and there's fake candidates that ruin legit candidates.

So your resume has to have enough keywords to get past the bot. But if it does, all resumes start to look the same, so they're all fraudulent. It has to be sent quickly, but too quickly and it's a scam. It has to be sent from one location, so if you send it while on vacation, it's a fraud. It really sounds like HR is going into hiring with a "guilty until proven innocent" mindset.

If a requirement is 3-5 years of experience for $20/h role, I'm using AI to apply because those job requirements are bogus too!

this is what a company gets with overly convoluted recruitment process, lowballing candidates, fake job postings, ATS systems filtering everybody and deranged job requirements. play stupid games, win stupid prices

With the amount of ghost jobs that have been posted the last 5 or 6 years makes it very difficult to have empathy.

Thank you Brian, it’s just so frustrating as a job seeker to seemingly endlessly rewrite resumes and submit them. Meanwhile it feels like wages are stagnant or backsliding. I have very little sympathy for the executives

The number one way they can solve their problem with applications is stop using aI. Have actual human beings read the resume. I know that's gonna be a shocker for a lot of people, you don't like to read, they want a computer to tell them everything. But they need to read the resume, and then they are going to suddenly find just how many qualified people they have been missing because of these damned algorithms.

I don't think it's fraud. Candidates are using AI to apply and companies are using AI to screen. The result is AI slop. It's all so overrated.

I like how you say that we, as applicants, need to be hands on with the application process. Yet, the employers are complete hypocrites and they feed all the resumes through a computer program to search for key words and automatically discard applications if it perceives it to not be good enough.
