This video details my personal experience with kidney stones, from experiencing severe pain in the middle of the night and visiting the emergency room, to subsequent surgery, hospitalization, and removal of the ureteral stent.
I was quite anxious before my hospitalization and searched for information, but surprisingly, there were few detailed accounts on YouTube that covered the actual process, pain, and costs. Information about the Inazawa and Ichinomiya areas was particularly scarce. Therefore, this video aims to provide as much detail as possible about the symptoms upon discovering the kidney stone, the hospital's response, the surgery, hospitalization, costs, the high-cost medical care system, and, most importantly, the pain of ureteral stent removal.
My experience began with a strange feeling around 1 AM, followed by severe pain in my right abdomen, nausea, a visit to the emergency room, and a CT scan revealing a stone approximately 6mm in size. The pain subsided for a while, but a follow-up visit a month later showed the stone had grown to over 10mm, leading to a TUL (transurethral lithotripsy) procedure at Ichinomiya West Hospital.
The video covers:
Severe pain in the middle of the night and the process of going to the emergency room at night
The moment when a CT scan revealed a kidney stone
Examination and decision to perform surgery at Ichinomiya Nishi Hospital
A 4-night, 5-day hospital stay and postoperative progress
Hospitalization costs, the high-cost medical care system, and the reality of the prefectural mutual aid system
Life with a ureteral stent in place
The process and pain of stent removal
Dietary changes made to prevent recurrence
We hope this will be helpful for those who are about to undergo surgery for kidney stones, those who are anxious about hospitalization, those who want to know the process at Ichinomiya Nishi Hospital, and those who want to know the reality of ureteral stent removal.
