This time, in early October, we went flounder fishing in Sendai Bay, which is in the peak of autumn, with the help of Maruyo Maru/Yukemuri Maru in Shiogama City, Miyagi Prefecture!
Maruyo Maru's "Taka-chan Sensei" is the undisputed number one captain and angler in the galaxy when it comes to traditional "live sardine flounder fishing" and "flatfish fishing at large artificial reefs" in Sendai Bay!
This time, in order to overcome my aversion to flounder fishing, I challenged myself to intensive "flounder training" one-on-one with Taka-chan Sensei.
At the beginning, even when I got bites, I kept missing them or failing to set the hook...
However, thanks to Taka-chan Sensei's incredibly precise one-on-one guidance, I gradually got the hang of the timing, and from the middle of the session onwards, my hook sets were spot on!
Before we knew it, the boat was in a frenzy of non-stop bites!
Even so, I'm truly amazed by the sheer number of flounder in Sendai Bay right now.
The thrilling bites, the thrilling fight after hooking, and the exquisite taste of autumn flounder!
Flounder fishing in Sendai Bay is fun to catch and incredibly delicious to eat, and now is truly the best season.
