There's only ONE old pawn shop in Old Town Pasadena and no such thing as 'Golden State Pawn and Music' in Pasadena, CA. I know so because this is my hometown and I still live in the heart of it.
That's incredible,I lost 3 of mine back in 89 when my house burned down. I had a custom BC Rich I scholoped the neck like Yngwie Malmsteen. Way before he made it popular. And a couple I built like Eddie's before I got messed up 11.6,1986. Now you can get them anywhere.
This story really touched me and reminded me of my story when I was 15 my dad bought me a guitar off my friend that was showing me some stuff on the guitar he was selling it for $75 now I am 61 years old and just recently bought a guitar a white Gibson Les Paul like the one Randy Rhoads had same color and style as the one I had when I was 15 it brought back so many memories of back in that time now it's my go-to guitar my go-to guitar out of my 12 guitars that I have used to be a white Jackson Kelly I purchased to the marzio pickups online for a good price one of them I installed in the Kelly the second one I installed in the Les Paul which I'm taking with me Thursday to a tryout for a band is that my friend Nick ask me to come and try out he is the drummer of the band and I kept saying for the longest time I need to meet a drummer not a guitar player now this is that moment reminded me of this story
This Video is has an incredible inspirational View, That it would make even the greatest Guitar player cry. As a guitarist myself, This Video moved me with real joy. The Documentation, and the Words was Sensational.
I like his logic on standard tuning for slide. I did the same thing. Not for simplicity but because I didnât know better. I just thought standard tuning or tuning down a half step covered the gamut when I was younger and teaching myself. People would show me chords and licks but no one really explained theory until I became a music major in college. Being a music major who canât read music and with no formal training is daunting. I do not recommend it. lol Thankfully we have 10 lifetimesâ worth of information and instruction right here on YouTube. After 4 and half decades and a music degree I learn something every day.
At least one part of this story is true- the make of Edâs first guitar. I remember this from his Guitar Player magazine interview from 1980. Man, I wish I still had that mag!
What a beautiful story, I have read a lot about Eddie Van Halen and for what I understand he never made money his god, he could have been 100 times wealthier than what he was but, he was a 100 % artist. G-d Bless His Soul.đ˘â¤đ
That is not Edward's childhood guitar in the photo. That is a Wolfgang guitar which came AFTER Ed's infamous red Frankenstrat. Also, the guitar in the photo has a locking trem system, which did not exist until the 80's.
