This is a lovely, simple love story, no high drama, fights, betrayals etc. But it's all the more powerful for that!

Thank you for this story. I feel so sorry for Alice. She died of a broken heart.😢

I spent many an afternoon  at the Hermitage as a child listening to Mr. Clark Willcox telling the story of Alice and her lost ring and tragic death. I was terrified and intrigued at the same time. He was a great story teller !

Once again you give me something to think about.  A great love story which has traveled through time and space.  Love your stories.

Awesome as always thanks for another great story!❤

Poor Alice she died of a broken heart 😢

Such a sad love story.
Reminds me of the current saying of today…
Keeping Up With The Jones’s 👵🏻❣️

This was so sad. How deeply she loved him. We should all be blessed enough to know a love that strong. A heart so broken it took her. 🥹

RIP 🙏

Great story. Really enjoy the comparative research.

What a sad story of love lost & family interference!!  Poor Alice!  Our hearts can’t tell the difference of wealth and status…….it can only love who it loves.  Dixie, you outdo yourself in every video!  Thank you for sharing.  Blessings always my friend!!  🙏😊❤️

You have done a great job presenting a family favorite. Thank you!

My wish would be for Alice and her love to spend eternity together ❤

Interesting.

I played at this grave when I was a child.  It's so strange to know that I was playing here.

So given the family, could she have become pregnant and sent to the "boarding school", returned due to complications?   Medical examiner made or paid to write down a cause of death sparing the family from humiliation.  Buried separately to keep people from figuring it out. So the plot with just Alice wouldn't have a last name put on it.  Maybe that's why Alice's ghost is there... with her baby Alice.

Nothing worse than forbidden love. It's the age old story: it's not about how deep and devoted the love is to those who want to something else for you. Another great story. It would be amazing if the ring was found by magnet fishing. I hope Alice does grant wishes to others, since she was denied hers.

I live in Murrells Inlet, about 1/4 mile from the location where The Hermitage used to stand. The family has since moved it farther from the creek. You did an excellent job telling Alice's story. In college, we visited Alice's grave in Pawleys Island, and some very unexplainable things happened. Murrells Inlet has such an interesting history  because it's so old. The Grey Man in Pawleys would be another SC coastal legend/ghost story to check out.

Always a winner!❤❤❤❤❤

I grew up in the area (Georgetown, just south of there) and the legend of what you do at Alice's grave has grown a bit. When I was a teen 50 years ago, we believed the version that if you walked around the grave 13 times backwards, you'd see Alice's ghost. There was a rut worn around the grave even then. The stories we told had her ghost searching her former bedroom for the ring, leaving the room in a shambles. And by the way, it's pronounced Wah-cuh-mah, not Wa-cuh-mah. There are so very many ghost stories from this area - it's truly rich in spooky stories and legends.
