After spending their entire lives inside a medical research facility, nine female stump-tailed macaques finally get to feel the fresh air and explore their new outdoor enclosure. However, the milestone is marked by tragedy as Wilmont, the only male in the group, suddenly passes away from a heart attack caused by his sedentary past.

Meanwhile, 13-year-old overweight orangutan Oshene struggles to make friends in the nursery, throwing her weight around and clashing with youngsters Linga and Dinda. Over at the chimpanzee enclosure, the troop takes full advantage of alpha male Hananya being distracted indoors to raid a massive fruit donation—until he comes outside and demands the leftovers! Plus, the veterinary team works like detectives to diagnose Trudy the chimp with suspected Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and the rare woolly monkeys enjoy suspended ice lollies while a new romance blossoms between Oasa and Lena.

Monkey Life follows the work of Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre with nail-biting rescue and rehabilitation stories. Whilst there are primates in need, Dr. Alison Cronin, Jeremy Keeling and their dedicated team continue to fight the illegal trade in primates and give those rescued a safe haven for the rest of their lives.
