Anne Boleyn’s story is often reduced to her dramatic fall, but before the Tower, there was hope, heartbreak, and fierce personal stakes. In this episode, we explore Anne’s pregnancies in detail from the birth of Elizabeth I to the tragic miscarriage that changed everything. Drawing on contemporary sources, eyewitness accounts, and modern historians’ insights, we look beyond the myths to understand what really happened, and how it sealed Anne’s fate.

Tough topic. Handled very well. Most times historians ignore the pain of child loss. They must think that since it was so common, it didn’t hurt, but I’m sure it did. 😢

Elizabeth's golden reign was Anne's late triumph.

I’ve experienced a miscarriage as well.
What I’ve learned is that most miscarriages happen because the baby isn’t healthy enough to make it. It was my only pregnancy, and it still weighs on me.
Thank you for creating a space where women can speak freely.
Too often, men just expect us to "get over it"—and that’s not okay.

Very sweet of you to offer support. I had an early loss between my 2 boys. Love the podcast and the YouTube videos.

As the ambassador said, “She has miscarried of her savior,”

I think pregnancy loss is far more prevalent than people realize- I myself lost 3 pregnancies. 2 of which were life threatening. And.. it always stays with you.

So sad for her. She was under such overwhelming pressure to have a boy, no wonder she miscarried

If Anne wasn’t killed, chances were good she’d have had more children; maybe even a boy. They were only married 3 years.

Regardless of what kind of person she was, she was still a woman who dealt with child loss.

I feel you are a very strong woman! I'm only a few minutes in and wow, I don't know you, but your acceptance and offer to help others when it will still affect you, it makes you a beautiful soul!

What always amazes me is how Anne doesn’t seem to have considered that if the King replaced his first wife with her, he would also do it to her?

Question: Seeing the way the winds were blowing why didn't Anne approach Henry indicating a willingness to set aside their marriage if that is what Henry wanted? She did not have the example of Anne of Cleves outcome, but she must have known that Catherine of Aragon was offered a better situation if she agreed to quietly give in to Henry. She must also have known she was less politically protected than Catherine was when Henry started showing signs of moving on from his first marriage. Plus while "divorce" was uncommon it was not without precedent.

I just finished the book Private Lives of the Tudors. It was very good. I’m going to review it next week.

In the 21st century I had 3 miscarriages and have never had any children. So these fertility issues does happen even today with modern medicine.

Growth of a 15 week fetus was seen as a Supposed deformity.

Back in those days if you were a Royal or Nobel all you wanted were boys. You were too busy trying to keep your head to have time to grieve. It would be constant anxiety.
