South Korea’s Jeju Island missing-person scandal has sparked nationwide outrage after multiple people who were previously reported missing were found dead within just three days.
At the center of the scandal is police officer Bu accused of falsely claiming he had contacted missing people, including 37-year-old Jang Mi-ran (장미란), telling their families they were alive and safe before closing their cases.
As hundreds of the officer’s previous missing-person cases come under review, the scandal has forced South Korea to confront a much bigger question: how could missing people simply disappear from the system?

Who should you go to when the police is the criminal?
Unfortunately I can't be explicit about why since I live in Iran (and my acc is public) but the police are those I always suspect and view negatively.
Still, I read there's around thousand people missing every year in that small island, like that's chilling number of statistic and the way people overlooked so many people missing like that is so uncanny.
And almost 300 missing case handled by that one police.

1) This cop is real life Chief Wiggum in terms of incompetence and laziness.
2) There is some form of horrible organized crime going on here.
