"Once Ben feels it he slides off the position." He sprawled lol

So happy to see another high level wrestler understand this position !! You the man brotha

This is mind blowing to me. Thanks for posting.

100% on board with this I mean I think sprawling is a basic fundamental skill but but takedown defense is soooooo much deeper!!

Jiujitsu guy here, we are taught to sprawl heavy to defend takedowns. Interesting how things are evolving ty for sharing the knowledge brother!

Absolutely brilliant. I can hear high school coaches screaming from here. But none of those coaches were D1 natty champs. Appreciate the breakdown Seth. 🙏🏼

Thank you for showing other ways to create angles and throw your hips back but not sprawl.

The subtle differences that a champion uses.

thank you for sharing this - I have always thought of a downblock, sprawl, and snap down as having similar movements with your arms and head, but the hips and below are different. This really pins down the differences between laces down sprawling defensive wrestling, and toes down hips forward reattacking as the better path forward.

Sergio Vega scrambles and finds cradles out of nowhere.

Once you get past the initial anxiety of having an opponent in on your legs you'll realize that the situation opens up a lot of opportunities. Sometimes I'll leave my leg out on purpose because he's moving around too much and I just want my hands on the guy. Especially if I feel that I'm stronger.

I think I remember watching a Kyle dake instructional where he was talking about this, honestly as a mma guy this stuff gets so much use, especially because I’m so much closer to them so I can mix jiu-jitsu with the wrestling.

I wasn't a National Champion and the way he showed how to defend the High C is how I teach to defend the High C, but to me these are all different ways to  sprawl.

If you're the guy shooting the Single Leg, how do you counter the Belly Whizzer (or Body Whizzer) defense?

Thanks Seth, you are a beast… God bless!

Could you do a video on the crackdown? I've seen you stalemate or even score from a bunch of bad positions using it.

I see SO many attacking options for strikers in these positions! Thank you for sharing! This channel is a GOD send for those of us who didn't grow up wrestling.

This is actually a very good approach for MMA because, in MMA, there are often times when the fence is behind you and you cannot sprawl against takedowns. Doing these counters instead of sprawling is a significant problem solver for MMA. Thank you coach! But just a question: would you recommend this against double leg attempts too?

Everything you shared here is spot on. Head, hands, the n hips. I’m in BJJ after having wrestled years ago. After high school, I rarely hit a dead sprawl, usually a knock out sprawl. I almost always bump my opponent with my hips. I also cross face a lot. That’s always been one of my mean streak moves that too many sleep on.

As a heavyweight 20 years ago I was always taught head and neck pressure, forcing the head down if you’re fast enough catch them is by far the advantageous position. I always felt like sprawling just meant I was to slow and for half caught.
