So fun fact this comic got so big after it came out that when Persona 4 Golden was being translated, they added a Fsteak reference in a conversation with Marie

Glad to see someone else who sees Nanako's horrible childhood unfolding before her and thinks it's the funniest thing ever because of the way it's presented in this comic.

Now I remember where "Why are you STARING, NANAKO?!" came from.

I believe Trial of the Dragon was the name of a martial arts movie Chie loaned him a VHS of, and was annoyed he'd damaged somehow.

21:31 Izuku “Deku” Midoriya English voice actor before going pro. Actually a lot of the actors in this dub ended up going professional years later.

So for those unaware, the comic actually takes on a new level of funny in light of Persona 4 Golden.

The "fsteak" line? It was under different circumstances, and by a different character, but it made it into the game.

Me and a Friend could quote this whole thing by heart.

15:15 the shadows in Persona 4 are somewhat align with the feelings of their real self, but portraied in an exaggerated way so they can provoke the real self into denying the shadow, so they can become their own self, transform and kill the original. they are clearly exaggerated especially in cases like Kanji Rise and Naoto. Kanji's shadow is portraied as a very homosexual stereotype, but it's because of the insecurities he has for being seen as feminine for liking girl's stuff like sewing. Rise's shadow wants to strip in the literal sense of the word, to show everyone how she looks, but what it actually meant was that the real Rise wanted to "strip" of her idol image to show everyone who she really was, and not what the industry wanted to show her as. Naoto's shadow wants to go through a "body change" because the real Naoto struggles to be accepted as a detective for being too young and, hence the reason why she passes as a boy, for being a woman. Naoto's case is about the difficulties of being a woman in a work field that is heavily male predominant.

The Shadow, in P4, is absolutely an exaggeration of the truth they know in their heart. Much confusion of this has plagued Persona for years. The Persona they gain from accepting that their Shadow is them is them accepting the superficialness of their heart so they can go through the journey to figuring themselves out deeper and then evolve to the next stage.

this is so nostalgic, this comic dub is at fault for shaping my sense of humor as a tween and getting me into the persona series

7:05 Why can I see Izanagi yelling at Yu, "Stick your hand in the TV, do it, do it, do it!"

[Enters the persona universe]
[Sees a copy of themselves who's actually nicer and more pleasant to be around]
"My not-evil twin?! But I thought you were still in Alabama."
[My party members become concerned]

I think that is the first time I saw someone react to this speciffic Comic Dub.

By the way, the Metal Gear Solid comic dub is freaking histerical.

my best friend in high school showed this to me on the metro bus one morning. I think this was in 2011 shortly after part IV was released. I had no prior knowledge of persona before this so at the time this was my only exposure to the series! It was really fun playing the game to discover the references the dub was making. I was even able to show my cousin the dub and got him to play it too! It's funny to think that without this dub i never would've discovered how awesome Naoto and Kanji are, nor would i have a reason to care about persona 5 when it finally released.

3:09 My favorite part of this comic dub XD

TRIAL OF THE DRAGON!!!!!

3:55 Something that, both in-game and out, no woman has ever said.

now THIS is a nostalgia trip

Fun fact: The voice of Kanji at least in part 3 of the comic dub, was Arin "Egoraptor" Hanson of the Game Grumps!

Unfortunately this comic will never be finished, but the creator of this comic did finish a similar one based on Metal Gear (except for 4 and revengance)

23:46 every time I see something too on the nose I SAY IT'S SYMBOLIC CAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW 😂😂😂
