One year after this documentary was produced, I saw Jan Lisiecki for the first time performing in Thousand Oaks, CA. I have followed his career with great enthusiasm and try to attend at least one performance a year, even if I have to travel across the Atlantic. I am 70-years-old and this young musician has brought a whole new dimension to my love of the piano. When I watched this film, I realized how much he owes to his very loving parents. They are a true example of what parenting should be about: unconditional love, encouragement, honesty, gratitude, respect, and normalcy. Jan is now 21 and a charming, modest, kind and respectful adult reflecting all those values instilled in him by his wise parents. I am so grateful to have lived during a time when I can enjoy Chopin, Mozart, Schumann, Bach ... I could go on for ever ... played in such a truly beautiful and unique way. Sometimes, when I am at a concert, I close my eyes and wonder if those composers are there in the concert hall nodding and smiling in approval to hear their music played the way they wrote it.
A genius of global dimension. Once a child prodigy, today THE master of his art. Sensational technical skills AND a sublime gift to present moving interpretations. What more could there be?
How interesting Jan said that if piano doesn't work out he would like to become a pilot^^. I have a 14 year old pianist son who spends much of free time in watching plane crash investigations and reading about planes. Great to hear Jan's music!
What a beautiful musician. Love your presentation of the Masters music Jan. And you are a delightful young man., very well spoken. I am proud that you are a Polish Canadian. We are privileged to have you in this great country. You have done us proud. Keep on playing and having fun with your flying... be safe!
no wonder Jan gave such an incredible performance and recording with St.Martin Orchestra on Beethoven's No.3 Concerto. I had no idea he had been playing this piece since he was a kid!!!
What a wonderful documentary about this intelligent young man and his parents. I recently watched his explanation about the Cadenzes of the 5 Beethoven concerto's. Such a wise explanation👍🎹🙏 Hope I will get the oportunity to hear him in our Amsterdam concert hall.
