I remember watching this game on tape-delay, started at about eleven-thirty at night, going into the wee hours of the morning. This was the first time I ever got to see Larry Bird play.
Celtics dodged a bullet in this one ‘cause Houston came to play. The Celtics played like they were still celebrating their victory over the Sixers and soon found themselves in a hole that they had to dig themselves out of again. They shot horribly, but, fortunately for them, were awesome on the boards. That Bird play in the fourth quarter where he followed his own miss and, while in midair, transferred the ball from his right to his left and laid it in while falling out of bounds was awesome! At the time, Auerbach called it the greatest play that he’d ever seen.
