John Oliver is gonna get the axe. If people aren’t watching late night talk shows on network television, what makes you think they’ll watch them on premium cable?

@TexasSpectre 22 hours ago

They're keeping their mouths shut not because they think they can avoid getting canned under the current conditions - they're trying to avoid getting canned and blacklisted. Shows get cancelled all the time in Hollywood, most people who didn't piss off the studio management have a chance at another show later on, often multiple shows. If you throw a tantrum and insult the studio heads/management, quite often you don't get another show - sometimes it's just that one studio that's blacklisting you, sometimes it's all the studios. Oliver and Stewart seem to be interested in preserving their future career options. Politicians come and go, studio heads are around for decades.

The thing about JO is he does his deep dives into a topic and every once an awhile he does one about something you happen to be pretty well versed in and you realize, Oh he is totally full of shit.

It's quite funny if John Oliver is scared because he used to mock the parent company (Discovery?)..

John Oliver makes 30 million per season. He has a net worth in excess of 80 million.
I doubt he's dumb enough or willing to put that at risk.
However. That being said. John Oliver has no business lecturing anybody about wealthy people. He is one of them.

John Oliver getting the axe would make me happy

Digger was a boring, confusing, mess of a film. Tom Cruise's character is a moronic billionaire oil tycoon who decided that starting a massive climate catastrophe is worth a slim chance of making more money. Naturally he's totally wrong and plunges the world into a new dark age...BUT that's when the twist happens and you learn that the film is actually a movie WITHIN another movie which is all a play meant for the survivors of the massive climate catastrophe to learn about how the planet was doomed. It's really, really dumb and boring as hell and serves as just another climate change alarmism and "did you know capitalism is le bad!" leftist movie.

Dr Strangelove was funny and made sense.

I could tell what "Digger" was going to be about from the trailers. That's why I didn't see it and actively celebrate its flopping.

That goes to show you these people that don’t know Jack shit about history. If President Trump was Mussolini. They be in trouble.

I forgot John Oliver existed lol

Perhaps Oliver and Stewart are aware that all the people working around them need jobs to put food on the table.
A few minutes of self indulgence and everyone is looking for new jobs in a climate of entertainment industry bloodbath...
