I am a huge fan of Roger Rabbit so I threw this on while I cross stiched. The way he talked about animation made me so sad to hear how much talent and passion he had but so little funds to pursue his personal projects. While he was talking about the project he had been working on for years I got a weird feeling of deja vu and wandered where I had heard that before. Then he had said Theif and the Cobbler and I audibly went "Oh no..." I don't know If I can finish this knowing what ended up happening to that movie :(
I have absolute respect for Richard Williams, but the fact he even changed the title every year of the film even shows that it severely lacked management.
Really great to see this, and get a chance to see exactly how brilliant Richard Williams was even more. The fact that he could figure out a rough estimate on frames for walk cycles just in observing day to day life is an insanely badass skill.
Also nice to see how humble he was still while being such a legendary animator, giving credit to the subtlety of Disney and saying that wasn't present in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I'm curious if Williams made any money from Roger Rabbit merchandise. Perhaps he could have used the money to buy the film rights from Warner Brothers, the way Jim Henson used money from Muppet merchandise to purchase the rights to The Dark Crystal from Associated Communications Company.
