Jenny Humphrey went from being the Brooklyn girl who just wanted to fit in to learning the rules of the Gossip Girl elite all too well. What does it cost to belong to a world that never truly accepted her?
From the very first episode, Jenny has to work for things that the rest of her peers take for granted: an invitation, clothes, recognition, connections, and finally, a place within Constance's hierarchy. The problem is that the better she understands how that world works, the more she begins to resemble the people who once made her feel inferior.
In this video, we explore Jenny Humphrey's entire story: her need for Blair's approval, her relationship with Serena, her conflicts with Rufus, her talent for fashion, Eleanor Waldorf, Agnes, her rise to Constance's throne, Eric, Nate, Damien, Chuck, and finally, her departure from Manhattan.
Because Jenny gets many of the things she wanted. She gets money, power, recognition, and even Blair's place. And yet, she never finds the security she expected to find behind it all.
Did Gossip Girl create its own monster? Did Jenny simply learn the elite's rules too well? Or was the real problem trying to carve out a place for herself in a world where almost everyone else had already inherited theirs?
