But what's it about?

At the combini Lawson near my house i'd gotten to know to cashier somewhat so I tried small talk one time. It was utterly pouring with rain outside and I jokingly said 'nice weather isn't it haha' In Japanese and the dude looked outside, looked back at me and said essentially 'Ah it's because this weather reminds you of your home in England :)' bless his heart, yes, that was the reason dear cashier.

14:52 I have to confess I always chuckle whenever I see one of these bare minimum Tokyo "parks", that only ever seem to occupied by several salaryman having a cigarette break. They're such comedically perfunctory spaces, like, it's technically a park, in the same way that a single strand of spaghetti is technically a meal.

12:12 My japanese teacher was a old guy who always did those old man sounds: "yoishi" etc when he did stuff. For some reason I picked this up and now when I stand up I sound like a old japanese man

FamilyMart should definitely make an airport billboard of Chris recommending Fami-chiki to western foreigners arriving in any airport in Japan.

Actually most surprised about the "no green in Tokyo" thing, because I never really thought about it. But yeah, the city's absolutely huge and a few parks here and there don't really break it up enough. In smaller cities you can usually just "get out" and escape into a small stretch of woods, but in Tokyo you'd spend the whole day going one way and still not really being "disconnected" from the urban sprawl.

All the more thankful that we get all the "journey" videos then, showcasing the natural beauty of Japan and while it's certainly still work, it has to be nice to get out and breathe the fresh air every once in a while.

13:30 It always blew me away how people don't notice the lack of trees in Tokyo. There are small gardens and bushes all over, but they really don't provide the same coverage as trees.

@15:00 - I relate to this so hard. I don't live in Japan but I was there for a work trip a few years ago. I was atrociously hungover after going out with the Japanese hosts the night before - so I desperately wanted to sit in some greenery with a pocari sweat and recuperate. I looked up a park and found one, trudged over to it in my stupor, and arrived at the saddest patch of gravel with a couple of swings. I just wanted to touch some grass man :(

Finland too has good sauna/bath culture like Japan.  Even  if in military for speaking to higher rank, you  don't need to "sir" and can speak casually by law since. " we naked no titles hanging on " .

Went to Japan for 3 weeks and the first thing I did when I got home was install a Japanese toilet, I couldn’t go back.
