Run for local office!  I just won our county library district board of trustees election (which was contentious and ridiculous for LITERALLY NO GOOD REASON) and now I can help keep our board functional and our seven county libraries providing services to everyone!

so refreshing to see real people house and real craft backet with 2 year old stuff needing mending!!

Your videos are a rare uncomplicated comfort space for me, and I thank you for providing that. I also appreciate your moments of realness like at the end of this one. It's always affirming to know that you're not the only one who notices that things are a little bit fucked up out there.

There is a subtle radicalism in most of your content, be it sidestepping consumerism or having the gall to find and experience joy on your own terms. These things help people. I appreciate it.

Lots of good flip clock in this video.

Hi Kathleen ❤
I live in Iran and I just got my internet connection back after over a week of being in the dark, listening to bombs and fearing the worst... I feel down and depleted but your video made me feel warm and cozy inside... Thank you for what you said at the end of the video ❤ I'll keep that in mind throughout my day 🌸

During this period of insanity, this little corner of the internet is comforting.

Longtime subscriber, infrequent commenter 🤗

Right now, it seems national leadership could care less about my calls and emails, so instead/in addition to, I’m volunteering with my local library, meeting my neighbors weekly (we’ve started an organizing committee!), and crocheting a protest picnic blanket for the summer. It’s full of panels that say what my signs have said, as well as meme images, flags, historical protest flowers, and traditional granny squares. I’m using up all of my thrifted and gifted yarn to make it, and can’t wait to bring it to all of our local and state capital gatherings.

I really appreciate you speaking to what’s happening right now, and am so grateful for your voice and your videos and your inspiration. Thank you, Kathleen, and onward 💗

lovely video, as always Kathleen. love the message of your protest shirt, it's really special.

I'm a trans guy living out in conservative West Texas, and for anyone reading this, I cannot overstate how vital it is to find community, wherever you are. Local Facebook (ugh) groups, Discord communities, even fandoms with like-minded people. Staving off existential dread is easier when you know you're not alone, you have folks to share the burden with, people to connect and organize with, and, if you're like me, people you can help support.

This weekend is our local Pride fest, and me and a handful of friends are starting up a local mutual aid group. Pooling resources, fundraising, creating events for the queer community, general support, education. We're going to have a booth at Pride to get the word out!

We're not trained political organizers, we're not a non-profit, we're just a rag-tag group of folks who want to DO SOMETHING. You can do that, too. Stay connected, everybody. Remember that even if you feel lost or like you don't have the energy, strength, or spoons to do something, existence is resistance. Find moments of joy even in these times of strife. You are loved, stranger on the internet reading this. ❤

Collecting little lost/broken jewelry parts and turning them into new jewelry is just the best feeling ❤❤❤

i love the bit about using the fabric markers from the estate sale. i’m sure the previous owners would be joyed to know that they passed on supplies to a  such a lovely artist 🫶🏻

It’s not a political thing but I’m going to be teaching a free sewing seminar for my community this weekend. It’s twice a month for three hours. It’s super small right now and I’ve had to source all the supplies myself but I’m so excited to teach my 8 students a skill that will open the door to creativity. There are people of all ages coming from their 20’s to 80’s! I’ve been wanting to do this forever and I can’t believe it’s real. Just trying to spread some creativity and love in a dismal landscape ❤😁

I always pick up so many GOLDEN nuggets of inspo from your videos! New ideas, new styles, new lore.. you're just the ding dang coolest :)

Well my lady, I have just been having a really nasty chemotherapy day, stuck on the couch feeling real nasty & this video brought me some lovely chillness & just like I’m hanging out with a cute friend. So thanks. I hope you have a really lovely week x

That's what I need on my Monday! A gentle reminder from Kathleen to stop doom scrolling and tackle my to do list.

Shout out to Kathleen being a real human about the state of the world AND advocating for community action ❤ heckin yeah

Gus is wearing the pants you made for him ❤️

Spending the week as a camp counselor at a camp focused on peace, social justice, and friendship has been filling my cup of fulfillment <3 so good to feel that I am learning and helping across generations. Going forward, hoping to start volunteering at my local pay-what-you-can meal service! And joining protests when they arise. Goal is to really become part of my community, not just staying emotionally paralyzed in my house. Probably something I should always be doing, anyway :-)

Ways I'm working in my community: 1. Organizing with my friends for our personal and community safety, addressing things like: Let's be accountability partners for getting a "go bag" started, or having enough masks for wildfire days. Tackling DIY projects together and in community, like growing food, to make learning new skills more fun. What are good deescalation and self defense skills? We started with a "What are we worried about" kind of list, and generated "What can we do about it" work. 2. Killed my lawn and planted native plants. Planting native plant seeds in urban deadzones like street medians. Pollinator friendly is next best, but native is best. 3. Publishing a zine with friends about local issues with underlying messages of hope, community, and action. 4. Staying plugged into local organizations who are doing the work I want to see done, especially mutual aid organizations that focus on reciprocal community relationships; giving my time and resources when I can. 5. Keep abreast of local politics, attend council meetings and community association meetings; advocate for what I believe in. An individual's voice is louder in local politics than national or international.

Have literally been spiralling on the internet all day feeling filled with adrenaline and this is exactly what I needed. You're just the best Kathleen, thank you for this little corner you've gifted us💛

you're the only creator I know that seems earnestly nice and happy and I hope secretly that one day you'll make some mental health content (not in an I'm-a-therapist way but rather how you remain so unapologetically and authentically yourself and kind and happy. Because I think a lot of us could need that in our lives. Anyways thank you for this regular island of calm :)
