Tuban Regency is one of 38 regencies and cities in the administrative area of East Java Province. Tuban Regency is located on the north coast (Pantura) of Java Island. It covers an area of 1,904.70 km² and has a coastline of 65 km. Its population is approximately 1 million. Tuban is known as the City of Saints because it is one of the cities in Java that became a center for the spread of Islamic teachings. However, some circles also call it the City of Palm Wine (Tuak City) because Tuban is famous for producing a drink (tuak) made from the sap of the palm flower (ental). Some caves in Tuban even contain stalactites and stalagmites. Famous caves in Tuban include Akbar Cave, Putri Asih Cave, and others. Tuban is located on the northern coast of Java, bordered by the Java Sea to the north, Lamongan to the east, Bojonegoro to the south, and Rembang and Blora to the west, Central Java.
