Arsen I'm 70 and I can't stress enough that older people need to be near a BTS or MRT. I lost 15 lbs on one three week journey to Thailand. (And I live in Florida) I have stayed across from Terminal 21 four times. And have also stayed in Thong Lo and On Nut. (right next to the BTS) But you are right the Asok area can be a problem sometimes. What with pesky foreign vendors, crooked sidewalks and rowdy tourists. But being next to the BTS, MRT, and Terminal 21 food court, is a winner. From there you can reach almost every area of the city. Thong Lo is a nice area. Quiet, good food, and the condo we stayed at was perfect. On Nut is a busy area. We stayed next to the mall and every night the street food was delicious. I'm not a big shopper, but my wife and I managed to visit 16 malls throughout Thailand.

Sukhumvit have one exception - Terminal 21 Mall. You can try local good at the good court . It’s economical .

Sorry sir ! You missed the boat on this video. You have to separate an expat needs from a tourist much more clearly. They each deserve their own video and have very different priorities. Imagine if you were doing the video on Las Vegas and recommending the first time traveller to stay in some residential area away from the Las Vegas strip. That would be poor advice in my opinion. On the other hand, I do not know of any new resident to the city of Las Vegas who lives on the strip. Same as Bangkok. First time visitors should stay right on Sukhumvit ... it is only 5 minutes to the shopping district by BTS and only a few minutes more by BTS or MRT to Chinatown, the old city or the river district. . As an expat - I agree, living in Nana or Asoke would likely be exhausting !

As a solo traveller who loves shopping in Bangkok I found a very nice hotel next to Phaya Thai BTS Station ( direct access ), From the airport I use the Airport Link and for shopping the BTS brings me to Siam very fast and also to the Chatuchak week-end market. Thanks to Arsen for the in-depth information about Bangkok. Great and usefull videos !

I always prefer to stay around the phrom pong area. Easy to get to the shopping, nightlife, parks and other attractions plus there’s a good blend of food, shopping and entertainment right there. Thanks for sharing another great video.

I love your video and they are a great tool. I would recommend, if you talk about different areas, make a title or separation on the lower bar so we can easily find them and get easier information. Great job!
