화약무기를 갖춘 왜구들의 공격에 큰 피해를 입은 조선은 을묘왜변처럼 큰 분쟁이 발생할 때를 대비해 방위체계를 개편하고, 명나라와 일본의 기술을 받아들여 세조 이후 멈춰 있던 총통의 개량에 다시 나섭니다.
화력조선 시즌 1의 마지막 편에서는 조정의 언쟁 기록에 묻혀 잘 알려지지 않았던, 중종-명종 기간의 화약무기 기술 도입 이야기를 재조명해 보았습니다.
In May of the year of Eulmyo (1555), several thousand Wokou invaded Yeongam in South Jeolla Province, which turned out to be the biggest Wokou raid since the establishment of Joseon Dynasty.
Joseon, suffered great damage due to the Wokou attack with gunpowder weapons, not only reformed the military system, but also improved its chongtong by adopting technologies from the Ming Dynasty and Japan. Joseon’s chongtong, which had seen no improvements since King Sejo, began to be developed once again.
This episode deals with the little-known story of gunpowder and firearm technology of Joseon in the reigns of King Jungjong to King Myeongjong. Let’s dive into our final episode of Season 1!
