Little girl is not literal, its a turn of a phrase, like baby.

Little girl doesn’t mean underaged, it was a term used for ladies back in the day.

"Back Door Man" was originally written by Willie Dixon in the 1960s and popularized when recorded by the great Howlin' Wolf. The Doors did a straight-up, fantastic cover.

Youve listened to enough old music to know things mean different things back then. Zep says little girl in many songs. It doesn’t mean little girl as in an underaged girl. It’s closer to saying young woman. Like someone in college or still in their early twenties. Like he was when he wrote and sang this.

That organ work you're so enjoying, imagine that The Doors had no bass. That's Ray Manzarek playing the keys with his right hand and a fender rhodes bass keyboard with his left. He was the foundation of the band.

Ray Manzarek was born and grew up on the  Southside of Chicago in 1939, so he got to hear all the Blues greats that migrated to Chicago in the 40's and 50's. The  Doors do a lot of blues due to Ray.

Even the guitar solo on Light My Fire was HEAVILY supported by the organ underneath.

The drummer was John Densmore. He always said he felt it was his job to enhance the song, but not to stand out. Kind of like Ringo. 😎

The Beatles debut was 1963, the doors debut was in 1967 and the Beatles had shown the directions music could go. In 1967 the Beatles were already on Sgt. Pepper.

This is one of the greatest rock and roll debut albums of all time.  A classic.

In 1967, music-loving hippies used to say, "The Beatles' music is for blowing your mind, the Doors' music is for after, when your mind is already gone."

"LA Woman" is a good one.

Nothing else sounded like this when it came out in 67.

Light My Fire was their first hit song. The radio (hit) version was shortened for AM radio as was typical in those days. As such, the hit version omitted the instrumental segment and kept Morrison's vocals.

THE DOORS also played on “THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW”, and they were asked to change the line “girl we couldn’t get much higher” in “Light my Fire”….and JIM sang and did not change the lyrics!!!!!

The doors brought in a bass player while they were recording in the studio. Live, Ray Manzerek played bass using a keyboard.

Ed Sullivan said you can’t say can’t get much higher. Doors said it anyway. Sullivan said you’ll never appear on my tv show again . Jim Morrison said , weren’t we just on .

I was 21 when this album came out. The Doors who can forget. No other groups sounds like them. Our time of counter culture was at birth. Civil rights was growing everywhere. The Vietnam War was exposed and our boys could come home. Change was coming it was in the air and the music grew with it. My memories are still crisp at 80. Love MUSIC so much. It has become the canvas of my life. Love ya, guys..❤❤❤❤

One of my top 10 albums of all time.
