For fellow Fear Daddies (GMs) out there, remember you can also use Fear to add an adversary experience modifier to the difficulty of a player’s action roll against a said adversary! I missed that one on my first read of the book.

"Your fear dice is your co-author, not your antagonist." This is such an important line. The first couple times I ran Daggerheart, players were really pessimistic about rolling with fear until I explained it to them this way. I tell players "Rolling with fear is not always a failure, it just means the outcome isn't what you expected it to be," and "Don't think of rolling with fear as you losing a turn--instead, think of rolling with hope as taking a turn from me." These two mindsets really helped feed the positive vibe at my tables and now my players usually chomp at the bit when I spend a lot of fear in one go, because they know it's less fear I have to spend later on.

Loving everything about this video - from the cheesy fight at the beginning to the 8bit sound effects. But, seriously, I wish more TTRPGs did what Darrington is doing with these videos. It would make learning the basics so much easier.

4:40 This is an important point that people need to understand. Fear isn't a punishment to the players, it is the engine of the story moving forward, twisting or accelerating things in fun and interesting ways. A roll never ends on nothing happening or trying again but it also doesn't (always) end with "rolled with fear and now bad thing happens to you"
