Xander's weird behaviour being ignored is definitely a sign of the times, guys could get away with way too much

the comment you made about the girls being friends with xander being unrealistic made me so happy. cause it made me realize the next generations are doing SO much better. i was a teenager in the early 2000s and it was so normalised for guys to act like this. people would tell you its just teasing or jokes and you just gotta take it and god forbid you ever get angry at them. i'm glad that younger people aren't accepting that kind of behavior as easily.

Xander's character and the writing choices made for him make a LOT more sense when you realize he is Joss Whedon's self-insert character 💀

While I liked the character of Giles in the show, in real life a middle aged male teacher dressing like a tenured college professor in suits every day and spending all his time in a high school hanging out with teenage girls would deserve ALL the side eye.

Damn, I’ve rewatched Buffy so many times but I never made the correlation that one of her biggest fears was being buried alive and having to dig out of her own grave. The fact that she actually experiences that later in the show… If she had shared that fear with her friends, it must’ve hurt so much more realizing that they put her through that

Buffy and Sarah Michelle Gellar will always have a special place in my heart.

I have just finished watching Buffy for the first time and it has now become my hyperfixation and taken over my whole brain and personality. This timing couldn’t have been better ❤️

The ending of "I robot you, Jane" is actually really haunting if you know how they end up.

Like none of them get to have a normal relationship that doesn't end up in tragedy because of what they do. It was a shocking scene in rewatch, even if unintended.

for "out of mind, out of sight," the scene that really stuck with me is actually the one where xander and willow are laughing about an inside joke and buffy not being able to understand and feeling alienated, not because it was scary or malicious, but because it was painfully relatable to me... god what an amazing show

As someone old enough to be your dad, it's nice to see the younger generations discovering and enjoying the TV shows we loved growing up. Also, your accent is adorable.

Grew up on Buffy, it dropped in my early teens. High school was ABSOLUTELY this mean. Cordelia was tame compared to some of the stuff I heard people get made fun of. It was a little over the top at times but it's definitely an accurate time capsule of fashion and plenty of attitudes.

leopard on leopard? slay (i have no intresting/informative  thoughts, just commenting for algorithm)

New viewer here. Buffy (and the spin off Angel) have been my special interest for over a decade now. It’s great to see more people discover the show.

sis this was COMPLETELY necessary

imo, the puppet show demonstrates btvs’ greatest strength, subverting the audience’s expectations, and its greatest weakness, s*xualizing its female characters.

Vampires using guns? You mean the Underworld FRANCHISE xD

Buffy is the best show ever made, she’s my ultimate style inspo

56:00 Like I said, Whedon LOVES punishing Cordelia (presumably in place of hot popular girls who rejected him in high school) and he LOVES treating his Xander, his (self admitted) Self Insert character as the victim in almost all circumstances and 'rewarding' him with 'hot girls' who are 'out of his league'

I watched Buffy when it originally aired, at the behest of my gf (who was so obsessed she SKIPPED A POST SURGICAL APPOINTMENT to see a new episode), and I've been in love w the show ever since. I still sing excerpts from the musical episode at random intervals at work. I am a delightful menace, re: Buffy lol

Joyce's bad parenting makes a lot more sense when you start noticing her alcoholism lmao
