I, for one, am loving the whole idea of epic, 8 hour long, historical news coverage montages.
Why had nobody thought of this before.
Last night I watched a 6 hour long documentary about Napoleon 🤗🤓
Edit: I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I found this entire video extremely engaging and informative.
I am also ever so slightly encouraged by the fact that other people are as dull as myself.
Perhaps there is some hope for mankind after all 🤷‍♂️🤗

Amazing piece of history. Thank you for sharing

Very interesting. Best documentary on this conflict yet in my opinion.

ITN is a godsend of journalism

Thank you

Did ITN ever cover the South African Border War? I'd love footage of that if you guys have it.

please remastered the old video to 4k or full hd 1080p if it was shot on film then uploaded it. because i have seen your previous video from Afghan and soviet war and that video was Sharp and good quality.

So absurd watching this now in 2026, some sketch ass cheeky ass characters in this documentary on all sides😂❤

God bless Carrington. A true man of peace

9:28....that poor kitty cat, not it's fault it was born in Afghanistan.

Heroin empire

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

there is never any talk of ALL the civilians killed by the various rebel groups through out the war and in the end when they were shelling areas still held by government forces also why do they always have a nervous looking unarmed boy in tow ....zia always looked like a movie evil bad guy character, what was nixon on about? "we cannot allow saudi arabia's oil to come into hostile or undependable hands"  the saudis themselves have always been hostile and undependable unless they needed or wanted something...the reporters are always confidently wrong about identifying equipment and vehicles like calling a transport heli a mi-8 or 17 the "second helicopter gunship"  on a seek and destroy run and later on a different report they use the same footage different voice over and they still call it a gunship...like the rockets they keep identifying as American both the regular and the one that spreads cluster munitions are egyptian made copies of russian crap  purchased by the saudis and the americans and transported eventually to the rebels through duplicitous-stan

Afghanistan is a beautiful place but so corrupted by local and foreign countries and the result is bloodshed

So, the soviets invade a country to defend a commie gov: boicott
The us invade a country to defend a capitalist gov: no problem

Atleast the Russians had something. US didn't ever even had any idea what they were doing in Afganistan
