I have been read Beowulf since I could understand speech. Both of my parents are Medievalists and as a young child I taught myself to say “Beowulf is my name”. I have to say, hearing Beowulf read by a modern day Beowulf who fought the Grendels that prowl the real world was absolutely epic. Thanks, Jocko!

I think my favorite thing about this podcast is as follows: even though Jocko has had such a successful career in the military, and even though he’s had so much success transitioning into civilian life, he never seems to get too big headed. He listens intently. He tells the truth, however hard it may be for anyone to hear. Jocko seems so eager to learn new information. His energy is infectious.
Finding this podcast has been one of my favorite things of the new year. I know I’m late to the party, but I’m just happy I’m here.
