1977-12-26 NFC Divisional Chicago Bears vs Dallas Cowboys

Bears got in with Walter Payton carrying them on his back but it isn't enough against this force of a Cowboys squad. Dallas' defense was just too much. I included interviews the last 7 minutes.

I've already posted the Minnesota game so next up will be the Super Bowl.

The 1977 Cowboys are the most underrated GREAT team in NFL history. Despite being the last team to lead the league in total offense AND defense, they are never mentioned as being one the Top Ten greatest teams of all-time. Their exclusion from Top Ten lists becomes even more absurd when you consider the FACT that they outscored their playoff opponents 87-23.

R.I.P.: Tom Landry and Texas Stadium. 😢

It's absolutely insane that both Harvey Martin and Too Tall Jones are not in the Ring Of Honor.

RIP Pat Summerall, Tom Brookshier and Paul Hornung!

Charlie Waters showed a lot of class when he complimented Walter Payton. He clearly played an awesome game, but had showed nothing but respect for Payton's efforts.

Awesome video! Charlie Waters, D.D. Lewis, Too Tall, The Manster, Tony D, Roger, Coach Landry...all Champions.

Tony Dorsett and the Dallas Cowboys sent those Bears into hibernation.

Bless Walter Paytons heart... You can literally see the rest of the team bumbling around with him struggling to direct them mid-play on many of these plays

Cliff Harris smashes into Payton’s head on that pass reception, and Payton gets up like nothing happened. Amazing.

Walter Payton was in great shape. He could take a lick and get right up and jog back to the huddle. Tough as nails.

That was the whole Bears offense Walter Payton. All the Cowboys had to do was stop him and make Bob Avellini beat them. The defense did just that and the Bears had no chance none in that game.

By far the best Dallas Cowboys Team EVER 1977

The 1977 Cowboys were just not going to be beaten, too many weapons

The polar opposite of this game occurred on the same field eight years later. The SI cover said it all: 44-0.

My nostalgia meter just blew up.

The bears lucked out even being there!

TD is one of my All-Time Favorite Cowboys but he was a Fumbling Machine compared to Emmitt !!!

Bob Avellini's favorite receivers were wearing white

I've never liked the Dallas Cowboys. But I respect the heck out of guys like Tom Landry and Roger Staubach. Charlie Waters showed a lot of class with his unprompted compliments to Walter Payton. Then again, Payton was also a class act as well! Love em or hate em, the Cowboys under Landry stood for something!
